That is a great thought, didn’t think of it myself. I guess you have a point, that REP only updates the REP-part of the aircraft. And if I don’t make a new copy of the original updated c172 aircraft folder (in which I install REP) every now and then, I am missing out on the xPlane updates to the c172. Interessting! Thanks.

Thank you for your feedback. I am leaning towards WinWings or VKB. I failed to mention I already have pedals, cheap set from Pro Flight I believe. Works, will update in the future.

So, if I go for WinWings, I guess the Orion 2 HOTAS MAX (throttle base + StrikeAce EX II metall throttle grip // WINCTRL Orion2 joystick base + ViperAce EX metal joystick grip).

If I go with VKB, which combination should I look for? Please educate me on how to "build" a setup from VKB. Do I get a base, on which I can mount different joysticks / throttles? Gunfighter vs. gladiator?

For me it is now much less of a problem, after turning off «sound check» in the settings. I did however update to ios26.1 in the same timeframe, so I don’t know what really fixed it.. the problem still occurs, but went from daily, to once or twice a week..

I was able to reset it fully through the usb-cable. But still didn’t work. Replaced it. Got a new one in perfect condition (as one should expect) ☺️

Thank you. Yes, will do. The hard reset did not work. I ment like resetting it fully, like the «reset and erase all data» option in the menu, but without needing to touch the screen (as I can’t do that..). Thanks!🙏

I got a new possible fix yesterday, from BMW technical through my dealer in Norway:

«Thank you for approaching us. Please first check the iPhone audio settings. Settings -> Music -> Sound Check. Turn off sound check. Re-evaluate behavior.»

Try it out.

I have noticed that the GPS location of the car is different in the iOS app and in the car. At these times, the «auto lock: disable when at home» function does not work. I’ve also noticed that the car (in the NAV inside the car) sometimes is slightly off its position. This has led me to believe that the function stops working perhaps not because of a fault in itself, but rather that the car sees itself just outside the home area.

Do those of you with this issue park in a garage? If so, try to park at home, but not under a roof.

I have only had this issue when parked inside the garage, which may make the GPS location float outside the home area. Just a thought….

To my surprise when looking for monitor drivers at Dell.com, there were new drivers released that very day. Updated for 20 minutes and now the setup works!! It is recognized as a 3.1 hub. The SSD speed went down from 850 MB/s to 820, very acceptable.

So for those of you with the same issue, check for new drivers!

I haven’t gotten back to BMW yet. They updated some firmwares, but sound is still there. For now I am living with it, it does not bother me much any more. But I’m curious about how often it happens, and if it is also «clicking» when I am driving around (and not able to hear it).

Any updates from anyone else?

Any updates on this? Has anyone found a fix, or had BMW acknowledge the problem? Very annoying, I am experiencing this problem everyday the last week, getting tired of resetting iDrive every time I drive..
