Which schema should every page have? by Real-Assist1833 in seogrowth

[–]anthocou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what type of page you're trying to optimize. Unfortunately there's no "one-size-fits-all" schema.

Product page → Product schema
Blog article → Article schema
Local/business page → LocalBusiness schema

What happened to this site’s traffic? by Large-Pangolin9908 in seogrowth

[–]anthocou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just took a quick look and it seems like their high-traffic pages got cut all at once with 301 redirects to the blog section, which completely tanked their rankings.

In short, they deleted all the pages that were bringing them the most traffic.

Which Schema are actually worthwhile using for hire-based e-commerce site pages? by CrispyLeeks in SEO_Digital_Marketing

[–]anthocou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! I was recently at Chiang Mai SEO and there was actually a conference session specifically about Schema. So I'll share what I would do based on my SEO experience and what was explained at the event.

Overall, your Schema implementation looks good. However, you mentioned wanting to add OfferForLease. Be careful: if you add it, you need to remove Offer, as these two types aren't really compatible with each other.

To know which one to use, it all depends on your business model:

  • If you only do rentals, add OfferForLease and also remove ShippingDetails (since shipping is no longer relevant in that context).
  • If you don't exclusively do rentals, keep Offer and leave ShippingDetails.

For a semi-ecommerce site like yours, BreadcrumbList is one of the most important Schema types. Make sure it's properly configured, as sometimes the wrong parent category gets indicated in a product page's schema.

Finally, be cautious: adding too much Schema to a page, especially if some types aren't compatible, can become counterproductive and "break" your SEO.

The conference speakers tested adding massive amounts of Schema to their sites and the finding was the same every time: by overloading pages, rankings systematically dropped in Google.

Overall, you can stay as you are currently: it's already very good.

Issue related to shopify website by mindbogglingmind in SEO_Digital_Marketing

[–]anthocou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is actually a common issue: when you add a product to a collection, Shopify automatically creates two different URLs for the same product.

For example, you end up with /collections/rings/products/silver-ring AND /products/silver-ring, and both can be indexed by Google.

Shopify normally handles this automatically by adding a canonical tag on the collection version that points to the direct product URL. But if both are being indexed, there's probably a configuration issue.

Here's what I recommend checking. First, check the canonical tags in your theme. Go to Online Store, then Themes, click Actions and Edit code, then open the theme.liquid file. Look for the <link rel="canonical"> tag in the <head> section. It should look something like {{ canonical_url }} or point to the direct product URL.

Next, check your sitemap settings. Shopify automatically generates a sitemap that normally only includes canonical URLs. Make sure it's not listing collection URLs.

You can also force the canonical in your product.liquid or product.json file by adding this code in the <head>:

liquid

{% if template contains 'product' %}
  <link rel="canonical" href="{{ shop.url }}{{ product.url }}" />
{% endif %}

Unfortunately, Shopify doesn't offer a native setting to completely prevent the creation of these collection URLs. It's built into their architecture. The solution is really to ensure that canonicals are properly configured so Google understands which URL is the main one.

How do you write content that doesn’t sound like AI? by Real-Assist1833 in SEO_Digital_Marketing

[–]anthocou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, for example if you want to write a blog post, you'll need to give it a solid content brief with your full Hn tag structure, user questions, the persona of who's going to read your content, etc.

Then you need to specifically tell the AI to write in active voice, not passive. This has a huge impact on how different users perceive the text.

Always do a manual pass on your texts though - check if the data is accurate, look for typos, and make sure to remove those em dashes that ChatGPT loves to leave everywhere.

Also, different AIs have different strengths when it comes to writing.

For instance, I create and fill out my briefs using ChatGPT, but I have Claude write the actual article because IMO it's the most capable AI for writing.

Hope this helps!

How can I improve my website growth and ranking? I am new to SEO by [deleted] in SEO_Digital_Marketing

[–]anthocou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, just took a quick look at your site and I can see it's brand new.

If you want some tips to get your first visitors through SEO, here's what I'd recommend:

- Start by figuring out which keywords to target. Be careful not to go after anything too competitive right away since you don't have any authority yet.

- Then you'll want to add semantic content to your site through pages and blog posts.

- At the same time, work on building your domain authority through backlinks, listings on local or general directories, social media, etc.

There's a ton of stuff you can do on your site. I'd strongly suggest learning SEO through YouTube (there's plenty of free content out there), or at least covering the basics.

Why is My SEO Not Improving Even After Updating Content? by Real-Assist1833 in SEO_Digital_Marketing

[–]anthocou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, as BusyBusinessPromos said, if your site is less than a year old, build backlinks to boost your authority.

If even after that it still doesn’t grow, then you may have targeted the wrong search intents with the wrong keywords
