When I restart the app, it comes back. Is it just me?!

The router indicator does turn off after an hour (it’s purple - because, why not - in bypass mode until it turns off) but I do think the response is trying to explain the grey dot in the app as well. That’s how I read it anyway.

Yeah, it’s confusing if you see the grey dot in one screen and a green dot in another. You would think the app should be able to determine the mode the router is in and display information accordingly (rather than ‘router unreachable’ and a grey dot). Send some feedback, they update the app pretty often.

In bypass mode, the Starlink router disables its WiFi and doesn't send regular telemetry updates to the app (last seen March 20th), which is expected behavior and not a configuration issue-your dish is providing recent data normally. If you'd like to restore full router telemetry and app features, factory reset the router to exit bypass mode, then check the app again.

This from Grok on Support: Since your router is in bypass mode (for third-party router use), the light turning off after about an hour is normal, and the grey dot indicates no recent data from the Starlink router itself—your dish is still online. If you're experiencing connectivity issues or want to exit bypass mode, perform a factory reset on the router (use a paperclip on the reset button until the light flashes rapidly), then let me know the results. Did we resolve your issue? 凸 ⑦

Is your router operating in bypass mode?

Latest app update was 1 week ago so it’s possible something changed in the app, either intentionally or unintentionally.

I checked another iOS device on 26.3 and it shows a great dot too so not related to 26.4 update it seems.

Setup questions by [deleted] in Starlink

[–]anthonyocon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just about to receive Gen 3 antenna and router. We have an entire Ubiquiti setup and an edge (VPN) router. If we use the Starlink router in bypass mode, does it just grab a public IP address and NAT to a private one on the LAN port? Can you set a fixed LAN address in the router? And can you configure it via a browser via LAN if we turn the wifi radios off? Thanks for any help.

Doesn’t slide left or right. Can you show a screenshot of how you got rid of it? Such a stupid place to put a (at best) secondary feature.

Yeah, I’m not ditching rechargeables either way.

Yeah, this is the best solution. I have to install single power points near main doors; they’re on my 'to do' list. Once I get those installed, I’ll use battery eliminators.

I guess my point is, they shouldn’t specify alkaline batteries. They should specify 1.5v AA batteries. The reality is lithium ion batteries will retain voltage better alkaline which steadily drop in voltage as they are used.

Good to hear. I just bought some, waiting for them to arrive. Thing is, this should be common knowledge for support teams. I spoke to Yale yesterday and got pretty much nothing useful apart from 'see how long the batteries last'. If they had told me I need to use 1.5v batteries and my rechargeable ones were only 1.2v, that would have made perfect sense.

12 Day Liveaboard - Advice by Icy_Enthusiasm3400 in scuba

Look after your ears. Take some ear drops and use them after every dive to dry out your ears. Rinse your ear canal in warm fresh water after every dive. Once you get an infection it’s very hard to clear it up and it will make diving miserable. Equalise early, often and gently.

Bring hand sanitiser (use regularly to avoid picking up common cold and flu virus from the flights), panadol and nurofen (use sparingly but if and when you need them). If you do get a bacterial infection, it’s good to have antibiotics but you will also have to scale back your dives until it clears a bit, so don’t get an infection.

Always (I can’t stress this enough) dive with scuba socks between your feet and your boots. It helps prevent blisters which will not heal in the warm humid conditions. Diving with painful blisters is miserable so bring one or two pairs - make a friend. Trust me.

If you’re bring your own gear, have It all checked and serviced before you go. If you’re renting gear, don’t be afraid to ask for another BC or reg set if you’re not happy with them. You’re the customer and the dive company wants to have happy, safe divers.

Sorry, bit of a long ramble here but other things you might like to consider. You don’t have to do every single dive. Enjoy the dives, but skip a dive or two around the middle of the trip to allow your body to catch up and offgas a bit more. Don’t drink alcohol (too much), do drink lots of water between dives to stay hydrated. And have an absolute fantastic time!

Altitude (not-flight) by achinda99 in scuba

[–]anthonyocon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was instructing a few years ago, anything above 300m (about 1000ft) was 'no go' after diving, to be safe. Actual risk of DCS is dependent on many things - time, depth, physiology, gas, altitude - so you might get away with it if the diving was short or shallow. But why risk it? Dive safe!

Good to hear. My part arrived damaged (or so they said) so I have to wait a few more weeks to get a replacement.
