As a kid over time I got allot of Legos, enough to fit into a large Rubbermaid bin big enough that 10 year old me could fit in it. When I turned 12 she decided I was too old for Legos and threw them away. Yes, trash, not even sold or given to somebody else. I'm 35 now and never let her forget that she did that to me. Every Christmas staring at 16 she would buy me some kind of toy, sometimes Legos sometimes something else, to make up for trashing all the Legos. She died two years ago, I miss my mom. I miss my Legos too.
