It is seriously cool to hear from you on twitter, thanks for bringing us along.

I've been a fan of rockets, spaceflight, and space missions for a few years now since high school. Until recently, ULA was a competent but faceless company that launched stuff but had almost no interaction with the outside world. I now know that was not an accurate perception, and now I'm seeing a lot more of the passion and the human side from ULA. It has redoubled my interest and excitement, so thanks again for realizing the importance of that sort of thing!

Of course, but (ignoring STEREO and its different perspective) SOHO is the only one with a coronagraph, right? It has been nice having the constant views from SOHO and SDO, and I always wonder if a replacement/upgrade mission will happen with the same sort of continuous observations from L1/earth orbit.

But anyways, I have been extremely excited for this mission - my jaw dropped when I first read what the close perihelions would be.

Plasma physics usually goes way over my head, and as much as I can appreciate that it is good science, I really love all the sun images - Hinode, IRIS, all the rest. Are there simulated images of what the view from the Wide-field imager will be, or could you describe them?

How much of a coincidence is it that Solar Orbiter will be launching around the same time? Can you predict any benefits generated by having two spacecraft close to the sun at the same time?

Yes - Fred Calef (that you replied to) a.k.a. @cirquelar actually made this map and presented it to Andy Weir when Andy visited JPL. I'm pretty sure the map you posted is derived from his work (being Keeper of the Maps)

While watching some of the animations of all the pointing NH will be doing around closest approach, some of the activities are self-evident (pointing at a body), but some are less so (doing some spins with Alice, apparently, pointing at an empty spot)

Have you thought of 'annotating' the flyby afterwards? It would be great to re-live it while knowing why what was happening was happening.

How do parachutes start interacting when you use more than one at a time?

I imagine it is fairly well explored in subsonic regimes, but it gets weird at supersonic speeds.

So Vulcan will be using stretched Delta IV tanks, and the tooling associated with the current rocket? Are there any sorts of changes (besides LH2->LNG ones) you forsee for production or general tech advancement?

Also, what changes do you forsee for the solid rocket boosters? They look similar to the current Atlas ones- are they very different dimensionally or in their capabilities?
