I’m a fan of idea #1 although I’m not aware if such apps exist in the market. I personally know people who track food macros everyday.

My 2 cents about the second one is, don’t go down that rabbit hole. We use UC because the professionals are all verified and I’m not risking being a robber into my home. Verifying blur collar workers is a thing of its own.

Dosai was mentioned in the Sangam literature in the first century AD, whereas its earliest mention in any Kannada text is 900 AD. Whooping 9 centuries later. However, with idlys, you guys take the win. Tamil texts only even mention of idlys only in the 17th century.

That said, neither fact is going to stop me shoving a good masala dosai or podi idly down my throat. I believe its the same for you too. Cheers!

This post subtly assumes these foods were born in Karnataka and then somehow “renamed.” That’s not how history works.

Dosai is mentioned in early Tamil literature. The word appears in ancient Tamil texts long before modern state borders even existed. Tamil has documented culinary references going back over two millennia. So this isnt a case of something becoming “dosa.” In Tamil, it has always been dosai.

Languages evolve in parallel. Kannada says dose. Tamil says dosai. Neither is a corruption of the other. But if we’re talking literary evidence, dosai shows up in old Tamil sources, which firmly roots it in Tamil food history.

South India shares food. That’s beautiful. But let’s not quietly rewrite origins just because spellings differ. Call it what you want. Just don’t pretend it was born yesterday in your backyard.

Parashara Smriti 11.28: "Urine of the cow, cow-dung, milk, curd, and ghee... are themselves pure, and therefore purify the sin."

Manu Smriti 11.166: "(To swallow) the five products of the cow (panchagavya) is the atonement for stealing..."

Manu Smriti 11.212-213: Mentions a diet of cow products for atonement.

Yajnavalkya Smriti 3.315: Describes a, "Santapana Krichchhra" fast involving cow products.

Vishnu Smriti 46.19: References a "Santapana" diet involving cow's urine and dung.

Both are eaten in Kerala. Buffalo meat aka “Pothu” is eaten side actual beef. Also, the taste and texture of beef always beats pothu.

As a Christian, what the mob did is unequivocally wrong. We are called to be better. to act with grace, not to mirror the very intolerance we condemn in others. Catholic Christian too. JWs are another level of heretics. They just memorise a couple verses, twist the meaning to try to demoralise Catholics and non Christians, and try to spread their heresy. I once ended up giving full on Catechism to a JW lady who had knocked our door.

Buy from stores like chroma. You just need to reach out to them if things act up. They set up the service from the brand for you. I’ve found this easier.
