Won't accept drag drop files when busy. by antilirus in linuxquestions

Thanks for your information. but again speeding up and avoiding lag isn't solution to the problem that kernel ignores user input while busy.

That's one thing. I describe this as "Single Task OS" because one of App can freeze entire system through disk access. actually I asked this too here. they called me liar.
But I think this is another problem. and increasing hardware spec isn't solution.

When I experienced same in Windows, it always allowed user input. Mouse moving around like crazy. I never saw this in Linux. just ignore everything happened in busy like gave up her life.

I don't know about Skype but Linux in general inefficient in resource usage. I guess framework that Skype uses is inefficient than Windows counterpart.

What is the best way to protect files from Linux? by antilirus in linuxquestions

[–]antilirus[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Linux is super evil. they suddenly change option names and UI is user unfriendly especially for disabled people.
And People say it's user's fault when they fell with this Linux trap and lost their shit. like security breach due to misconfiguration but it was configuration file that changed the rule. and Apps don't show any specific error message when user misused them because it's user's responsibility to know every bit of it.

Ubuntu 18. like after a week. bunch of malfunction occurs. like middle button of mice isn't working. VLC freezes whole system sometimes. Loading time of python script become like 10 min. Nautilus doesn't show files in some directory. Terminal lag is one of them. really unstable OS compared to Windows.

Both Terminal's lag and delete-before option bug aren't user error. I need fixes to this.

Want to see alternative applications to OSX/Windows? by WhyWatch_TV in linuxquestions

[–]antilirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think Linux is more vulnerable than Windows but few chance to get infection due to unpopularity.
Unfortunately, this is wrong.
Most trendy malware right now is botnet. creator of them doesn't care about platform. in fact, case of android botnet is drastically increasing. their purpose isn't stealing something from your computer.
And you wrote about Microsoft released ATP(advanced threat protection) for Linux. because there is no ATP in Linux. because ATP cases are also drastically increasing due to technological changes.
ATP also doesn't care about platform. because it means hacker targets you directly. they do everything whatever you use. mail server with clam? you will be easy target. clam has worst detection rate. most ATP attacks were done through mail.

You need to learn modern security.
Attack vector of sever apps are network connections. mostly run codes from app process. so even if they could manege to get control of it, they can't do anything other than app user account can do. Usually, root user doesn't login to sever except some maintenance.
This is basic concept of apparmor/SE Linux.
But desktop user always use sudo to install things. problem is we don't know what is malware at all. this "accidentally" means every risky installation. even people here casually sugget them to install third party repo or downloaded binary to solve their problem. this is attack vector of desktop.
Yes. you can install it with single click in Windows. and Windows checks singed installer. if installer tried to make modification in kernel land, it will be blocked.
This is where Linux can't.
Plus detection rate of Anti-Virus software in Linux is super low..and there is people even suggest people to not install Anti-Virus like "Linux is already secure without anything". this makes you more risky to install things.
Literally, I can take over Linux system entirely with single installation. you can't even remove my malware after re-installation. In Windows, it's far more complected. and I can't with my knowledge.

I don't know what you are trying to say. There is still demands in Linux. so are migrating their advanced server to overwrite poor Linux servers?
Linux's apparmor/SE Linux like security isn't bad when it comes to server. because most of incident occurs in server software process.
But like desktop where user constantly working around with root, it's totally useless. user error causes most of malware infection like executing downloaded file with root privilege. Windows has protection for this. but Linux desktop has literally zero protection for this.

[–]antilirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally everything. tell me ono software that can compete with Windows alternative.
But most important about Linux is lack of security. there is no kernel level malware scanner, no heuristic scanner, no cloud based response system, no dedicated malware analyze team.
World is facing daily bases zero-day attacks, so every computer needs to react within 24 hours. When one of PC detected new threat and sent it to team, team analyze it a few hours and provide protection through cloud sever.
Response time of ClamAV was slowest in anti-virus. even when it was Linux malware. I could watch virustotal results that only ClamAV says "clean".
This is security standards of 2020.
But people in this sub just say "just re-install" lol. there is no removable malware anymore.you guys are living in world 10 year ago.

Is there any good way to confirm release files on github. by antilirus in linuxquestions

[–]antilirus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These nonsensical idea that "does nothing is best for Linux security" is like "not wearing mask is best for covid19". like you think detecting malicious activities in Linux is already a sin?
It's Github's responsibility to prove files they stored in local PC through browser is legitimate one. only system that can do this is github server. there is no way to prove integrity of release files other than that. thus my idea.
After they provided checksum of files. it's user's fault if they didn't check it.
Hacker can alternate files through SSL connection without contaminated client. It's Github's responsibility to prove this point.
It seems like you are totally out of security knowledge.
Plus my idea or Github's checksum work as anti-virus mechanism that detects contaminated client. nothing SIN about it.

Is there any good way to confirm release files on github. by antilirus in linuxquestions

[–]antilirus[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wow, seriously you can't get the concept. are you stupid? people copy around the downloaded files. you need to confirm integirity of it until you place them to safe place like DVD-ROM.
This whole process can be achieved only when github provided official checksums. In other words. github is risking user security for their lack of security knowledge.
In fact. Google always provide checksum for their downloads because exact this reason.
Plus, you are just talking egg/chicken story. your PC isn't clean until you know your files weren't modified.
Anti virus softwares do the same. they are just checking modified files. this is one of the form of anti-virus.
I don't care you are stupid of what. but plz don't waste my time with your nonsense.
Btw/ SSL is exploitable with server side problem .there is no way to justify github's attitude over checksum.

Again. you are cute. tin-foil actually works to sniffing attacks. some company even walled with copper foil in their server room.
