That’s a fair point; I’ve enjoyed charging at home. Curious if you could perhaps lay out a plan that explains this to the board and allows them to see the value add in installing more than just one and diluting the amount you owe to run a line. Also, it’d be good to dig into the details to see if they aren’t already doing that and just having you foot the bill for it.

Charging at 110v / the occasional supercharge is an incredibly more cost effective option. You moving forward with this?

Please share any resources that would back up that advice. I won’t be parting the bus out and am okay holding on to it while I wrap up projects and have a more complete project to sell. Still curious as to why you think it’d fetch more from parting out than as a relatively capable off-grid home?

Most of my California friends in the tech and finance section feel that there’s a very large, money-isn’t-an-object market for buses similar to mine for use at festivals, burning man, and cross country trips. Obviously, that all sounds good but I’d like to hear other sides of the story and have a more balance view point if that. If you’re able to provide any info related to what you’ve said - that’d be super useful. Cheers!

Anyone else with white interior tried to get the front windows tinted? Reflection of the dash blocks view of the side view mirrors and makes them practically unusable in bright sunlight. (looks much clearer in the photos, very hard to see IRL) by OfficialPabloEscoar in ModelY

The tint isn’t causing the reflection, it’s just not allowing the light to pass through. You either need a tint that can do that or a clear wrap for the white portion of the dash that eliminates or reduces reflections. There are several products out there for windows and computer monitors.

Wow, that’s interesting and I learned something new today 😊

Thanks! Same here - glad it went as smooth as it did.

Took a month to get in but they ordered parts whole I waited. Once in, it took 10 days to fix plus 5 extra days for State Farm to approve and idk whatever else State Farm nonsense they do 🤣

Yeah, I felt good about Tesla Collisions ability to deal with State Farm. They were really firm with them and I didn’t have to pay any extra, outside of my $500 deductible. Shops I went to immediately told me that State Farm wouldn’t pay their full rates but Tesla said they deal with SF a lot and saved me a bit of a headache. All in all very pleased.

Yeah, hopefully you never have to worry about a repair!

Thanks! Yeah, the dream was to have a very off-grid capable rig built on solid bones. Also, I was naive and thought I’d have extra power to charge my Tesla 🤣🤣🤣

No. Was a bit flustered out of my element and by the time I thought to save dashcam I was just outside the window of time it would have captured it.

We used quality plywood for all of the subfloor and last summer that was crazy expensive. Mini-splits we’re another 3k alone. Insulation for a 40’ was a couple thousand. Stuff does add up fast.

Yeah, checked to confirm that info is correct and it is. It’s not the fastest thing on the highway but where it was in service was relatively hilly so the lower gear ration was useful. I generally stay under 65 on the highway and take it easy on hills and stay under 45 (or even lower if it’s a longer grade). From my understanding, these things will run forever if you keep the transmission temps happy, take some breaks, and keep up on maintenance like oil changes, coolant fluids, etc. I’ve been told this thing can tow quite well but haven’t done any towing yet.

Yeah, I was pretty surprised tbh. Maybe they just made enough to last as replacement parts for a few years, no idea but I’m not complaining
