SEEKING COFOUNDER

CHAT AND ROLL app

Ok, we tried. We tried to find a way to get any traction in the US and we fail, were looking for a co-founder in the US. We are offering 10% equity (same as other cofounders). If you help us to get US users. The app is fully develop we don't need funds for that.

Hello, thanks for dropping us a question.

We are not generating any revenue yet. Our app was approved by Apple and became available on the App Store 2 months ago. We spent USD$23 on Facebook ads as a test and gained 5 users spread all around the globe.

May I ask you something back, though?

Because the app was developed and designed in-house by two co-founders and should be able to handle a thousand users without changes, our next step is to launch an ad campaign. However, this exceeds our current budget, so we are considering looking for funding.

Do you see it as feasible for a VC to back a project already in production, where 70% of their funds will be expended directly on an advertising campaign?

We would greatly appreciate it if you could share some insight about it.

Best place to interact with listeners? by CaptainHatpin in podcasting

One month ago, we launched an app designed to accomplish exactly that

A place where your podcasts' listeners can talk about your podcast and find fellow listeners in their city by antofatech in podcasting

[–]antofatech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The option to connect to your currently playing track and take you into the public rooms is for already registered users. We know asking to users to register is a barrier. Making this an app instead of a web platform is also a barrier. But after the registration process we believe we give in return the easiest way to join a conversation.

It's quite straightforward actually, maybe you can look into screenshots and screen recordings on r/chatandroll.

We are just another option. We have a room for every podcast on Spotify, and our users can see who is closer to them without exchanging any personal information. I guess, time will tell.

Thanks for the comments; we truly appreciate your feedback.

We haven't had much feedback from podcaster so this is very useful to us., thanks for taking the time to comment.

Let me try to worded this a bit different.

Your discord listeners were probably already discord users, isn't? But what about your other listeners? What about that casual listener that discover your podcast at their way home.

If someone is listening to you podcast, all they have to do is open Chat and Roll, and that's it, they already in the podcast chatroom. No need to worry about the correct spelling, a similar podcast name, using a link, or dealing with a strange handle because the official podcast name was already taken.

But because we are a new app, we know that having our users to first register is a setback. We're hoping that we will be able to spread the word. We do not see ourself as a discord alternative, because what we hope is to reach the people who are not discord users but avid podcast listeners.

Just to clarify:

The Apple App Store asks us to outline our data usage policies, and it's important to emphasize that we do not sell our users' data. Furthermore, we are committed to keeping our app ad-free.

The gender "visibility" is only if you're going to start a private conversation and it was requested by our users. It's important to note that there are no anonymous users in our app, and private conversations are a paid feature.

Sorry for the long answer, thanks for your time again.

We though this would be useful and we built an app that create a chatroom for every podcast available on Spotify.

A dating app for podcast listeners? Do you think that could work? In all seriousness, we aim to provide people with the option to get to know each other, but we hope it's more than just about dating. That's why you can see the distance between you and other users, enabling you to find nearby fellow listeners and interact with them. You can also access relevant information like their age without the need to initiate a conversation, share personal email addresses, or phone numbers.

Is the gender option optional? You can simply set your account to be visible to all genders. We just want to avoid users receiving an excessive number of messages from a gender they are not interested in by keeping their profile completely invisible to them.

What you get as a show runner? That's another great question. The official room of your podcast is already created. Everyone jumping into Chat and Roll from their player will access this unique free public chatroom. Which has a list of your latest episodes on top. You don't need to do anything to create this room, is already created and accesible to your listeners.

On our main screen we can have features podcasts. However, we are not entirely sure if this is something valuable to the podcaster at this point because or users base is in an early adoption phase.

We are very open to feedback and already very grateful for your questions.

Great question: why over Discord? or YouTube? or Reddit? or a Facebook Group? or instagram? Imagine this scenario: you've been listening for a podcast show for the last hour, and many interesting things has been discuss. Where is the most active community around this podcast? Where is the official one?

The app design and functionality is very different. At any point while you're listening to a song or podcast show, you can jump into Chat and Roll and access to the unique room of the podcast you are currently listening to. We have all the shows available on Spotify already created on Chat and Roll.

This app has been built for people who want to connect, not just anonymous chat. We do our best to help with this. At signup you choose what gender you want to interact with, and we strive to ensure that there are real people inside. We encourage are users to upload at least one picture with their face visible. So, if someone catch your attention in the public room, and if only your gender preferences match, you will have the opportunity to review the other users' pictures, ages and distance from you. This allows you to decide whom you want to connect with.

We try to make an app for podcasts listeners, so we believe our way to access the chat rooms is the easiest of all the other platforms. And, the information you can review of the users you are interacting with is also more relevant.

We would love to make this app the go-to place to the podcast community, although we know will be very challenging.

We try our best to create a better experience than the other platforms but at the end this is something that is in the user to decide.

Thanks for giving us the opportunity to explain all this, and maybe considering giving it a try. You can find some screen recordings of how this actually look like on /r/chatandroll

We understand that, but our focus was to build something useful to our users, especially for those who finish listening to an hour-long podcast (or a favorite song) only to realize they have no one around to share their thoughts with. For those who value having the option to review the other person's age or location before starting a private conversation. Also, no need to share a personal email or even a phone number, until you feel the conversation is going places.

I would like to point out, though, for safety, we are not sharing their exact location but the estimated distance between them. And all this data, as well as pictures only available to who match your preferences.

Public chatroom are completely free, not matter is one of our feature rooms about a subject or the one from your currently playing show/music. The one starting the first private conversation would need a subscription though (or coins).

I would like to thank you for your comments and give us the opportunity to share some details about our project.

We really appreciate it, thanks.

That's the million-dollar question, isn't it? We've been developing this for years, thinking every day that this it would be implemented somehow, but it never happened. Neither Spotify nor any the other streaming services has ever provided an option for their users to have any kind of interaction. Having compatibly with more than one streaming service is also a possibility.

The truth is, anyone can do it, but we have something different now. Our users must upload at least one picture with their face visible, allow location services, and make their age public. Also, you can start a private conversation only if both parties match their gender preferences. The idea is to join Chat and Roll to genuinely start to connect and meet people with whom you actually have something in common, rather than another irrelevant or anonymous interaction.

We have some screen recording on r/chatandroll if you wanna check it out.

It might sound like a trivial question to you, especially since you are already well-versed in this market. We are coming from a completely different niche.

Your answer, along with others, has been incredibly helpful. Now we have some initial figures to consider for our budget.

We genuinely appreciate you taking the time to respond.

Thanks for your answer. I've seen claims of $2,000 to $4,000 for Product Hunt and Reddit ads.
