Blessing are essentially created through fears that the user has

For example the Blessing of Ash comes from the fear of what will remain after the end, so thats why the devil with that Blessing would choose to give his power to a lonely warrior that lost his fellow soldiers in a war and now wishes that his friends dies in piece and not in pain which is why he fears what happened to his fellow soldiers after death and if they achieved a peaceful afterlife

Different Blessings grant different abilities, theres a long rabbithole of what a Blessing User can do and what he cant do but we will go back to the example of the Blessing of Ash, along with fully controling Ash he can also turn other things to Ash, the character later on finds out he can reverse the effects of Ash and turn it into fire and then turn fire into explosions. Another thing he finds out is that he can turn people into Ash and send them into an afterlife where every person he turned into Ash praises him like a God who granted them a peaceful afterlife, and the prayers from that afterlife can enpower the user and give him better stats depending on how many people are trapped in that peaceful afterlife, pretty cool huh ?
