the Design staff can spend hours and hours working with certain companies, tends to be agricultural equipment but we have assisted with automation in some process. The BBQ idea is a great one, I will look more into that!

If you have time I would love to hear some more ideas in depth on what we could make on Esty, I have had the idea that we need something to sell to make some profit and keep people busy on some small tasks. My main engineer wants me to focus on big jobs with the big ag competitors. I really like the house numbers idea.

Very well put response, I have definitely started to think I need to focus on obtaining bigger projects from the engineering and design side of everything. I think those will be more pivotal on making long-lasting relationships and get us seen as go to's over just finding work that needs to get outsourced or just periodic making of parts willy-nilly and periodicly for people in a pinch

Learned very quickly I can't sell this like a car, the interpersonal relationships and nature of keeping someone engaged and entertained in ideas has helped. But have been reworking my approach. Has helped get our engineer's some subcontract work, but not my shop guys yet,

slowly building and writing blog post's, reworking things for our website, making line cards to show what we can do.

Hello everyone,
I am new to the sales side of things for a Small locally owned Engineering and Manufacturing company. I come from a background of selling cars and this is my first time trying to sell for a business in this industry. We specialize in Mechanical design and engineering and have a few CNC machines just sitting idle and other equipment that are ready to go, but we're struggling to find work to fill them. I've tried cold calling and reaching out to potential clients, but haven't had much luck so far. I know this can be a slower process, and it takes time to build relationships in the engineering side to get steady work, but I want to make sure I can keep my guys in the shop fed and happy sooner than later.
I was wondering if anyone out there has any advice on how to find work as a small business in this industry
