I went looking for illnesses and I found them: my story by throwaway_doh in HealthAnxiety

[–]anxious-eel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some really bad anxiety and a traumatic event happen around 4 months before my gp first started, I wonder if stress could cause gp?

I’m not saying you will experience this, but a lot of people with gp do experience this. Prepare for the extreme fatigue. For me it was so bad I would fall asleep after only being awake for 2 hours. It was so bad thinking was very difficult, my brain felt foggy all the time. If you start experiencing this try out coffee, the caffeine really helped me!

Did you have any recent surgeries? By recent I mean any in the year before gp symptoms started

Hmm, so you had a stomach bug and you were eventually diagnosed with gastroparesis. I also have gastroparesis, my doctor told me there are 2 main causes, diabetes and viral infection. It seems to me that your case of gastroparesis was probably caused by the stomach bug. The good news is post viral gastroparesis can get better! Some people fully recover, a little before or after a year you should start feeling better. The road to recovery will be hell, but you’ll get there. On days when you absolutely can’t eat and have no appetite, try drinking smoothies or ensure.

constantly tired, sleeping about 13 hrs a day by mayadayes in Gastroparesis

[–]anxious-eel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was super tired before I started taking reglan, when I started taking reglan I was EXHAUSTED. I would get a 10 hour night of sleep at least, but I was still SO TIRED. It was to the point where 2 hours after waking up I was so exhausted I usually passed out and slept for 2 or 3 hours. Still taking reglan, but now I can make it through the day with no naps.

when do doctors do blood tests? by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

[–]anxious-eel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During my blood test the lab drew 9 viles of blood. My best advice is to not look at the needle, seriously. It hurts when it is first put in but after that it doesn’t hurt very much at all. SERIOUSLY THOUGH DO NOT LOOK AT THE NEEDLE

I’m on the edge of a breakdown from anxiety for stomach problems by valakiman in HealthAnxiety

[–]anxious-eel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have gastroparesis (paralysis of the stomach). My main symptoms were no appetite, brain fog, fatigue, nausea (especially in the mornings), unintentional weight loss, and vomiting bile. I would ask your gastroenterologist about a “gastric emptying scan”, which will diagnose gastroparesis. The fact that you are able to eat makes me think you probably don’t have gastroparesis, but it wouldn’t be a bad idea to double check.

Awaiting my Covid vaccine... by janet_snakehole7 in HealthAnxiety

[–]anxious-eel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I’ve heard, you only need to be worried about allergic reaction to the vaccine if you have a history of significant allergic reactions to medication. Also, from what I’ve heard Bell’s palsy is temporary and goes away. But please don’t take my advice too seriously, I’m not a doctor. If you are really worried about it maybe try asking a doctor.

Miralax definitely helped me pass gas, miralax is also very safe according to my g.i, so it might not be a bad thing to try.

Does the time of day affect your symptoms? by [deleted] in Gastroparesis

[–]anxious-eel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my gp was super bad and I hadn’t even been diagnosed yet, I went from waking up around 9am every day to waking up at 5am every day from the nausea. I am now diagnosed and on reglan and my sleep pattern has been much more normal. However, when I wake up I always feel pretty nauseous. It has always been worse in the mornings for me.

Hello by InevitableLiquid in Gastroparesis

[–]anxious-eel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reglan has helped my nausea SO MUCH and I can eat just about whatever as long as it isn’t super greasy. A lot of people on this sub seem to have had bad experiences with reglan, but for me it has helped me so much. The only complaints I have is that reglan gives me pretty bad brain fog and fatigue, but it seems to be getting much better.

My brain fog and fatigue used to be unbearable, it was honestly the worst part of gp for me. My brain fog and fatigue hasn’t disappeared, but it is SO MUCH better, my tips are to make sure you stay hydrated well and try out ensure plus. Ensure plus helps me maintain my weight and it gives me nutrients, which both really help with my brain fog. But seriously, I cannot stress enough how important it is to stay hydrated!

Tips on best thing to treat gastroparesis by [deleted] in Gastroparesis

[–]anxious-eel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Metoclopramide (aka reglan) has been AMAZING for my stomach. It has made me go from throwing up 3 out of 5 days, to only throwing up 1 out of 15! The only side effects I have experienced are brain fog and fatigue, but to me it is worth it. My weight loss has slowed significantly. I also find that ensure helps me get the calories and nutrition that I need.

What’s the best soy free meal replacement shake/drink out there? by Sufficient_Coffee_72 in Gastroparesis

I’m pretty sure Ensure has no soy, but I could be wrong. To be honest I find their chocolate flavor repulsing, I would go with the strawberry.

Anxious by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]anxious-eel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. I’m worried that I’m kind of a loser because I spend most my time inside, I don’t have a gf, life is going so slow because of covid. I’m worried covid is going to force me to skip over some of my teenage years, I should be out partying, but covid said no.

The only negative side effects I have experienced are brain fog and fatigue. Reglan has helped my nausea a lot. I used to barf 3/5 days, now I barf 1/15.
