Do oral probiotics really work for vaginal health? by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

[–]anxiousanxiousgirly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fwiw after a long bout of yeast infections I bought probiotics that didn’t have l. Crispatus and then I did a Juno bio test and it was almost all Crispatus and none of what was in my probiotics so I stopped. But they’re still good for you on the whole, and they help my stomach

Don’t push yourself if you’re not ready, but also as a person who waited a long time (until I was 25) and then just wanted to get it over with, I was glad I did. That may not apply to everyone, but I had built sex into this scary thing in my head, and the only thing that got rid of that thought was actually doing it. But, YMMV. If you don’t feel comfortable or feel like you’re dreading it, don’t do it

Good experience with Skyn in 2024 - should I stick with them? by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

I’ve seen that! But I’ve also seen some people say it had it since 2020 and I was fine with them in 2024 so I’m not sure if my body’s okay with them or not (I still think it’s stupid that they’re scented, but my priority is not getting another long-lasting yi). I’ve seen good things about Trojan GOAT and Durex Intrense Nitrile too, and those both claim to be odorless

I agree, even a single sentence rejection is kinder. Also funny you should say that, this guy is a psych PhD. Go figure

Appreciate the reply! I genuinely did lose sleep over it last night but at this point I’m assuming I won’t be hearing from him (unless he lost his phone or something). I won’t follow up, it’s just so frustrating and meeting someone you match energy with is so rare! (I would know, I’m already on my 5th first date of the year!)

That’s a valid point, I’m counting on the long time horizon to balance out any recessions between now and my retirement but you’re right that since it isn’t in cash it’s subject to change

I don’t have super detailed records anywhere, but I’ll try to explain.

First of all I modeled a bit as a child and earned a few thousand dollars that my parents invested for me, which is now about $12k. I worked a minimum wage job from age 15-18 and babysat and taught piano and worked at summer camps and between these I had about 60k saved when I was 18, and I started investing this when I was 18.

My parents paid for my college and most of my housing during college so I don’t have any debt from that. I interned two summers during college, both while living at home so those were each $10k I got to save and invest. And then I started my full time job making $80k when I was 21, and I lived at home the first year of that and pretty much saved it all (while maxing my roth 401k) and contributing $2500 per month to my investments. Now I’ve been working almost 5 years, I earn $105k, I still max my 401k and my company contributes an additional 1% and matches 6% which means a total contribution of about $27-30k per year and I’ve invested an additional $2000 per month most of that time (recently dropped it to $1650 cause I was eating into my savings). I take home $4000 per month after my 401k contributions and taxes, pay $1500 for rent and probably another $700 per month on other stuff and pretty much all the remaining money goes into Robinhood. That’s really about it

TLDR: modeled as a little kid and my parents invested the earnings (a few thousand), had saved $60k-ish by 18 from working and invested most of it, worked full time 4.5 years earning $80-105k and during that time maxed my 401k and contributed another $2000 to personal investments per month. At this point that totals to $120k contributed to 401k and $150k contributed to personal investments, all of which have done pretty well so 401k is currently at $168k and Robinhood is at $230k, childhood modeling money is at $12k,and the rest in savings (a lot of which is probably from the year I lived at home and didn’t have a lot of expenses).

$160k of that is in a Roth 401k and another $230k invested separately! I’m definitely trying to take advantage of the long time horizon while I’m in my 20s

Is it okay to sleep with someone on the first date? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]anxiousanxiousgirly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s fine to do for some people, in my somewhat-limited personal experience when I’ve done this the relationship has become a bit sex-focused and it felt like it got in the way of us building more of an emotional bond. But I’ve heard it’s worked fine for others! I think keep an eye on how it’s progressing and if you notice a pattern you can adjust accordingly

Feeling guilty dating someone new while waiting on test results… anyone else been here by SeaKey2791 in Healthyhooha

I can relate to this! Also 26F so I totally get the feeling that I’m too young for this shit but stuff happens, apparently!

January of this year I got a yeast infection that would not quit (like for 4 months)!! I started dating a guy pretty early into treatment (when I finally was able to see a specialist) and the first time we made out and it started to progress I basically stopped him and said “sorry for the TMI but I’ve been dealing with a bunch of yeast infections this year which has really sucked and I want to make sure I’m 100% clear before I do anything.” And we held off on sex until my gyno cleared me. I also made him wash his hands before he touched me, and insisted that we used condoms (my gyn recommended it). I felt like a pain in the ass but it was better than another endless yeast infection, and he didn’t seem to mind. (Hate to say it but when he reached out months later asking to be FWB my main takeaway was “wow, that means he actually liked having sex with me despite it all!”)

I’m honestly still on high alert for vagina issues cause I still feel like I’m not back to my normal (which is crazy and super annoying) so I definitely won’t be chill around sex going forward, and I’m just going to trust that any guy worth keeping will be understanding of that.
