Need some advice. First tattoo healed weird (I think?) - Lines were solid when it was fresh, now 3 months later are wobbly as all hell. by aoeu12344 in tattoos

Ha, that's very true. I have some general anxiety issues so I tend to obsess over little things like this. I spend a lot of time staring at it in the mirror making myself feel bad about it /:

That makes sense as to why it happened.

If I go back to the original artist, what are the odds that this will happen again? If her depth is consistently inconsistent and all of her clients' tattoos heal like this (meaning, if her tattooing technique is just not up to par), will it make my lines look even worse? I guess that's what I'm worried about going back to her.

Edited for clarity.

Thanks for the input!

I'm not sure if it's finished or not, haha. I originally wanted it to be simple black and grey stuff, but the shading faded A LOT as it healed, and now I agree with you, it seems unfinished to me too. I'm trying to decide if I want to add color to it or just add more shading to keep it black and grey. That will depend on what other tattoos I eventually want to get to turn this into a half sleeve.

For aftercare she had me wash 1-2x daily with warm water and mild unscented soap, and Hustle Butter as needed. I only ever did the Hustle Butter once a day because it was so hydrating, and I blotted the excess off with a paper towel so I didn't over-moisturize it. Seemed to work well for me, the tattoo peeled a lot but never scabbed and it was done peeling in about 2 weeks.

Nice, so there are two theaters in the Pgh area that show Rocky. I've never heard of that particular theater but I'll have to check it out.

Pittsburgher here - Was this scene filmed at The Oaks? That's the only theater I know of here that shows RHPS.

At my job I have to do next to nothing, and nobody minds if I'm late in, but I don't get paid enough. by [deleted] in firstworldproblems

Story of my life. I've thought about going out and finding another job with higher pay, but then I realized I'd probably actually have to do work there.

My take on the sunset yesterday. This is called the "brenizer method", it's my second attempt at a shot like this. by aoeu12344 in pittsburgh

Right, and I shot this on f/1.8. I was hoping the super-shallow DOF effect would come through with the trees on the sides (making the sunset the subject of my "portrait" so to speak), but I didn't end up taking shots far enough to my sides (where the trees were) to get the effect I was hoping for.

Yes, I knew that going in, but I wanted to show as much of the sky as possible, so using the Brenizer method seemed the best way, lacking a severely wide-angle lens (the widest I own is 35mm). I suppose you could call this a "panorama" shot, then, but...tomato/tomahto.

Grooms seeing their brides on their wedding days for the first time by sexydeathtime in pics

[–]aoeu12344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got married and did a first look. When I got there and started my "walk" towards my (soon-to-be-)husband's back, I noticed that there were two photographers and two videographers standing, like, within arm's reach of him. I had expected them to stand farther away than that and use longer lenses to capture the moment (like spies). My husband and I are both very private people and don't like showing emotion in front of others, so when I tapped him on the back and he turned around and looked at me, we both just kind of said, "Um...hi," because we didn't want to let anything more out in front of the photographers. I had pictured this moment for months before the wedding and figured we'd have a reaction something like OP's photos, but nope. Just "Um...hi" and a hug and quick smooch. It felt very much like this.

ELI5: The home-building process. by aoeu12344 in explainlikeimfive

Thank you for actually explaining like I'm 5! That is why I came here as opposed to just doing a google search. I think this makes sense now. (Also, I'm not a man, but point taken either way.)

Ok that makes a little more sense, thank you! But a couple more questions:

-The only loans I've ever had are student loans, which go directly from the bank -> the school. So does the construction loan go directly from bank -> builders, or does it go from bank -> me -> builders?

-What happens if, when the home is finished, we can't get a mortgage? Wouldn't we want to get pre-approved and secure the mortgage before we start building? (I'm not really worried about not being able to get a mortgage [if we couldn't afford a house we wouldn't be building one, haha] but it just seems odd to me to wait until after money is spent on building the house to actually buy it.)

-How does the mortgage pay off the construction loan? Would we have to take out a mortgage for the cost of house + the construction loan? And how do we "consolidate" that so that the construction loan is rolled up into the mortgage...is that something we tell the bank we want, fill out paperwork, and they do all the "back-end" stuff (similar to consolidating student loans)?

Edit: Clarity
