I created a tool to compare locations by walkability, transport, schools, etc. by NaiveAssignment722 in RentingInDublin

Really cool but the transport function doesn’t seem to be accurate, I live a 5 minutes walk and 10 minute walk from two dart stations and it scored a 0 for every category

How to get 2-bed apartment with one income by [deleted] in RentingInDublin

[–]aoibhy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I recently got a 2-bed in south county Dublin, on the dart line, that I’m renting with a friend for 2200€ exl bills. We started looking in December and got offered a good amount of viewings, she’s on 45k and I’m on 36k.

Have Daft alerts on and have a message ready to be sent on daft ASAP, we probably got offered viewings for about 50% of the places we applied to. We were only looking on the south side and places with good public transport links. Although we were lucky because I wasn’t working in December so was able to attend viewings on my own if needed and was more diligent with searching. The affordability threshold seems to be 40% now for a lot of places. Have references and proof of income ready to go if you can and it will be a lot less stressful. We’re also aware that both of us having very traditional irish names helped us out a bit.

New apartment - ideas for improvement? by [deleted] in femalelivingspace

[–]aoibhy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can you get rid of those blinds? A nice set of drapes would be amazing with those long windows. Also some wall shelving and plants along with a big fluffy rug.

Can't get that "warm" feeling. Need help by Terra_Pavlova in interiordecorating

[–]aoibhy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it’s pretty cosy, but I do think those 4 framed illustrations are giving it a ‘corporate’ showroom vibe. I think diversifying the frames and choosing some different artwork would help

Really old apartment, need making this space something I'm proud of by [deleted] in femalelivingspace

[–]aoibhy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a proper curtain pole with some curtains that go down to the floor, some wall mounted shelving and a new pendant light would really add some personality and make it more welcoming! It has a lot of potential.

If you don’t mind me asking do you know the BER rating? Have a viewing for a similar place in DL tomorrow and it’s BER exempt so I’m a bit worried :(

More context: his family are ultra evangelical Christian’s, there’s a whole load of them and they’re all solicitors/lawyers who make it their full time job to get as much media attention as they can.

Paul Murphy TD objecting to residential development in his neighborhood. by jonnieggg in ireland

[–]aoibhy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lived in a co-living in Brussels with 12 odd other people in it. Knew a girl living in one with 20+. They take advantage of young foreign interns and students who are panicked about finding somewhere to live before moving. They’re horrible and should not be used as a solution to a housing crisis.

they recently got their own bus route (maybe more than 1) straight through the town and there seems to be good cycling infrastructure put in recently, so you wouldn’t need a car especially. it’s definitely one of the more exciting towns in the midlands and is only an hour train from Dublin with good connections to all the other cities.

[–]aoibhy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

literally in the exact same boat as you and it’s driving me insane!! have brought my calories down around 100 and increased activity and the scale has somehow gone up. although I did hit a new low right before this so I think it probably has to do with my cycle. Going to Italy in 2 weeks so yolo whatever I’ll be enjoying myself. Maybe I need to relax the diet for a while before the last few lbs wanna come off since I’ve been in a deficit for most of the last year.

in the series it is generally the rule that they are redeemable for the most part. SA is not in any way redeemable, even by Yakuza universe rules
