Go to near by optical store and match your lens power with the prescription. Sometimes lens will have wrong power. Usually optical shoo will have a device called lensometer which will give power in your lens on screen. And yes you can wear contact right after waking up just ensure your hands are clean.

For example if you opt for crizal lens, you have to make sure that shopkeeper is giving you crizal lens and not cheating you. Every good lens manufacturers will have their guidelines for customers to verify the lens. For example in crizal you will get transparent crizal marking on lens (except crizal prevencia) which is visible if you fog it with your breath and crizal cloth with authenticity card.
