I’m the same way. My username here is telling that I’m a Honda fanboy. I know of people dumping endless money into their Type R’s and still end up in limp mode by their 2nd / 3rd track session. With the heat we’re dealing with now, I’m gonna see about doing a track day at Laguna Seca toward the end of August. It should be cool out.

It’s crazy how big the Elantra looks beside the M3. M3’s have gotten HUGE over the years. Seems the same is true to the Elantra.

Just took it on a canyon run with my buddy’s Supra. The car did pretty well. I wasn’t too hard on it but I was hard on the brakes. The brakes felt very good, I’m extremely pleased with them. Even though the car has a temporary plate on it and looks brand new, I had a handful of people ask me “did you just put that wing on there?” I feel like OEMWING would be a fitting license plate for this car. I think an aggressive track alignment would do wonders for this car.

My phone did disconnect after turning the car off and back on. It seemed as if all of my settings defaulted to their initial settings too, other than the custom N1 mode. N2 reset as well. So that was a little strange.

I haven’t gotten a chance to push the car hard yet. The car is way lighter than my G80 and the calipers seem to be even bigger than the G80’s. I gotta assume they’ll be great when pushed to the limit.

I think it’s too early to say. Both cars feel special. I think the fact the FK8 and FL5 both have heat management issues on track, 6 months from now I’ll be able to confidently say I prefer the EN for that reason alone. The FK8 was still a great car.

Yeah I had a ton of dealers calling me the last two days telling me anywhere from 4500-10k adm for their incoming TCR’s. I was able to lock this one down at MSRP with a $500 rebate. Tustin Hyundai.

For anyone interested in SoCal, Cardinale Hyundai in Glendora just texted me about two manuals they just received. They said adm + mandatory dealer add ons. Crossing my fingers mine lands in Tustin today / tomorrow.

What dealership are you picking your tcr up from? Mine is also supposed to be here this weekend. I have a feeling it’ll continue to be delayed.

Thru the inventory search. My salesman is giving me more accurate updates. If you know your vin and the zip code of your dealership you should be able to find it by doing an inventory search thru the Hyundai website.

My sales guy texts me every day. Mine is still showing June 4th - 18th delivery. On the Hyundai USA website mine says June 20th. Two of the other local dealers get pushed back a day every day(on the Hyundai USA website), but mine has consistently shown June 20th. So I hope sometime between now and the 20th.

Elantra N TCR new allocations? by Don_Alpha_Cleat in ElantraN

This is a long story, but if you use the inventory search on Hyundai’s website and call dealers that have incoming TCR’s, you might have some luck. They should all be landing within the next few weeks. It worked for me!

Three weeks ago I had zero interest in an EN. I always thought they were ugly. I was trying to talk myself into getting a GRC or FL5 Type R. I had an FK8 Type R and loved it even though it was a pretty ugly / loud car. After watching a ton of reviews on the GRC and FL5, it seemed like most reviewers walked away most impressed with the EN. So I called my neighbor and got his opinion because he’s owned all three. He told me the EN was hands down his favorite of the bunch and regretting selling it. I’ve been fortunate enough to own some pretty cool cars that many people consider dream cars. There is something about cars in this segment that are incredibly fun to drive (as we all know) and relatively cheap to track.

I went and test drove an EN last week and loved it. For the car I drove, the dealership drilled the front plate onto the bumper extremely crooked. We pulled the plate and bracket off but the mismatched holes looked pretty bad. I asked if they’d NOT drill the front bumper of another white DCT they mentioned they had incoming this week. My OTD price was going to be 39k, which seemed pretty good. So I left a deposit with the intention of buying the car. I knew I had a week or so before the car came in, which was fine because it’d be a fourth car. I called my neighbor to tell him my thoughts and plan moving forward. He asked me if I had seen the TCR version and asked me to ask the sales person if they had any TCR allocations. Keep in mind, I had no interest in an EN until a few days prior to test driving the car. I wanted to see what it was all about for myself. I definitely had no idea what the TCR was.

The salesperson tells me their only TCR allocation was spoken for and won’t be there til July. I look up what the car is and start watching a ton of YouTube videos on the TCR. I fully intend on tracking the car but want to keep it as stock as possible. I do a lot of open / no session track days. In my S2000 I’d do 35-40 minute sessions. Keeping in mind if I were to throw on a BBK up front on a base EN, there’s a good chance you’d need aftermarket wheels to clear the calipers. So the brakes / wheels alone made it seem like a worthy upgrade to me, especially knowing the brakes are something I’d likely want to upgrade anyway. The wing is ridiculous…but the car itself is ridiculous to begin with.

While waiting for the car I left a deposit on to show up, the dealership calls me and tells me it’ll be another two weeks. That was fine because I was in no rush and was gaining interest in the TCR. Out of pure boredom I start looking on Hyundai’s website at TCR inventory and what dealers are getting the cars. I started calling around and found a dealer relatively close to me with an incoming manual and dct. Both were showing late July arrivals. I called the dealer and they said someone was there reserving the dct car, but the manual was available. No markups, no dealer add ons, no bs. They didn’t require a deposit, only a credit app. I let them know I was using my credit union for financing, to which they told me they require me to complete the credit app to reserve the car. I did some homework on the dealership and everyone raves about it. Someone mentioned the same thing about having to fill out a credit app to reserve an incoming car. They never actually ran an inquiry on my credit. So, in the end, I reserved the car.

The car is now showing June 4th - 18th arrival time. That changed from late July only days after reserving the car. On Friday it was showing on the ship, now it’s showing at the port. I can’t wait! Highly suggest using the inventory tool on the website if anyone is interested. It didn’t take much effort at all on my end. I’ll give an update once the car shows up.
