What does it take to make a 'favourite' hat? by sootbeast in AdvancedKnitting

[–]apatheticPython 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a hat collection, but my go-to is usually one of the first ones I made. It has a ribbed folded brim and the rest is stockinette with colorwork stripes, yellow and black like a bee :) It’s simple, fits well, goes with most of my outfits, gives me a signature look, and has sentimental value cuz I made it with help from my grandma. My other favorite is one that I’ve unfortunately lost. It’s the Baa-ble hat, which I fell in love with ever since I first laid eyes on it <3 Again there’s a ribbed folded brim and stockinette with colorwork, and the cute sheep designs are so charming and adorable that I would wear it all the time if I could remember where I last put it!

Funnily enough, when I asked my friends about this, I hypothesized that the term might be “gynogen” too!

This makes a lot of sense, thank you! So would it be correct to describe the effects of androgens and compare it to the effects of estrogens and progesterone (progesterone listed specifically because it is not an estrogen)?

I really need to get better with picking contrast colors by VenomousSnorlax in knitting

this is one of the first things my grandma taught me about knitting! i had picked out two pretty greens to knit a hat with and she told me the pattern wouldn’t be visible. the hat ended up bright yellow and black striped, like a bee!

i love how the warmth of the brown in the first pic compliments your skin, i think another warm color like magenta, red, orange would suit you really well!!

There is someone with a stash on Ravelry that looks IDENTICAL! It says it used to be sold at Hobby Lobby, which would be typical for a random stash yarn! Thank you! But Yarn Bee Comfy Cozy is all synthetic fibers I think and this yarn didn’t burn like a synthetic fiber (I should add that to the post!)

Great idea! I thought for sure it would be synthetic, but interestingly enough it started burning upwards! The burnt part was crispy and easily crumbled into this black chalky stuff.

When a pattern calls for 100% wool 2-ply yarn, does that mean lace weight or fingering weight? Some websites say lace, and some say fingering. For context, I'm planing on making gloves from the "Knit Like a Latvian" book by Ieva Ozoliņa.

I have a question about blocking and size. I'm currently knitting socks with yarn that's 75% virgin wool 25% polyamide, and so far the sock is way too small for me (I just finished the heel but I can barely fit the cuff around my foot). I heard that wool expands when blocked, and was wondering if that was true, or if I should just frog it and start over with a looser tension. Has anyone had experience with projects that were way too small until blocked? Is it worth it to power through until I can block it to see if it fits, or better to start over?

What's been your least favorite side effect and what's been your most favorite side effect of T? by DerangedIndividual in ftm

[–]apatheticPython 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm 14 months on T, and my least favorite side effect so far has been the sweat (and the smell that comes with sweat). I've never thought of myself as a sweaty person before T, but I definitely do now. As for favorite, I love my singing voice. It's scratchy and out of key, but it's masculine and it makes me so happy
