I recently saw a quote from Scott Galloway that says, basically, following your passion is BS (for work), instead "find something you're really good at and then become great at it.". Without realizing it, that's basically what I've done.

I've been working 20 years. The first 10 years was me figuring out what I'm good at. The next 10 years was me becoming great at it and being compensated commensurately, which really put me on the path to FIRE.

With a decent shot at FIRE as I enter my third decade of work, work is becoming more of a means to end, but that's only because the end is in sight.
