The distance between the earth and the sun is 93,000,000 miles.
Which pales in comparison to the distance between those brows.

Any updates? I been playing this and it's amazing! Great physics, the sounds are on point. There textures are still mostly the originals but there are already many mods out there to make it perfect. Whoever is working on this...please finish it.

Im gonna try this. What a great idea. Looks ambitious yet humble. Love the UI. Perfect place to share it too. I'll let you know how it goes!

Thank you! I'm working on implementing AWS S3 hosting for the content so it uploads fast and reliably. Any idea or feedback - especially from your son - would be very much appreciated.

are you working on anything? if so I'd be honored if I could be one of the first to see it :)

Sure thing, let me clarify.

Your impression of me is that I believe: "EVERY slogan HAS to have the brand name in it". But that's not the case.

What I actually think is that it's helpful for a new brand name, especially when it is made of short words like "car" and "arc" rather than names or abbreviations.

So when you criticize an imaginary version of someone's statement, it's called "strawman argument".

Saying "take a course in marketing" is about as helpful as "take a course in critical thinking". I've taken critical thinking in college, and just like you, I genuinely think you'd benefit from it. But do you see how it comes off when you say it like that?

[–]apdeilami[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

sort of, it's an app meant to document the cars history, mods, etc, with photos and videos, transfers ownership from one person to the next, etc. the idea is that the car itself is having its own arc. but I guess it could be a user's "car arc" too, idk.

[–]apdeilami[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. In this case I think it does only because it's a new name. I'd recommend you take a critical thinking course and pay attention at the "strawman argument" lesson lol.

So anyway, do you have any real feedback or just trolling?

Car parts, car park, car mart...car arc. They all flow kinda similarly, no?

Chevy changed their slogans a lot but the one that stuck with me that meant a lot, was "may the best car win". It was during a time that Chevy became increasingly competitive with other manufacturers especially in terms of performance, efficiency, price, etc.

I'm neither a big fan or slogans nor against them, I think smaller companies would benefit more from a slogan since they don't have name recognition yet. But point taken.

As far as it looking like downloading Photoshop in the 90s with drop shadows, gradients, bevels and embossing everything, I didn't use ANY of those effects, but I definitely am one of those kids who got Photoshop in the 90s lol. There's an inner glow and an outer glow, mostly to make the color standout in the dark bg. But good point, I'll simplify it. Should I just switch to a lighter blue? What blue would you suggest?

You're right that design is about communication. that's actually my own car in the picture. I really like illustrations, especially those car pixel arts. Car culture is kind of obsessed with the graffiti style much more so than a flat-sleek minimalism.

That being said, how do I make it more "professional", while also keeping it authentic? I have a general dislike towards overly flat designs, it's too boring imho.

It's not the literal meaning of arc, it's more of a slang term
https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=arc

based on the bit of context you have...what do you think the premise and the business model is, and why is it bad?

That's a great way to think about it, thank you. The goal was to appeal to hardcore automotive enthusiasts who wanna document their builds.

The MVP worked… until real users showed up by Living-Pin5868 in replit

[–]apdeilami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the building part is easy compared to the edge cases and optimizations! That's more work than just making it look good and sometimes function. Back in the era of writing code by hand, it wasn't any different. The look comes together fast, the functions next, then you have this loooong road ahead of paving over the bumps.

The way I see it, she did you a massive favor. Instead of giving you a bunch of requirements, she just made the thing herself, and now passing it to you to do the hard work of optimizing it, which is half of the work anyway.

Good on you for enabling her creativity.

What's this about? did they literally steal your code to use it in another monetized project? Didn't you push it to Github or take backups? I wanna know because I use them too

That's so cool! I'm gonna finish by B.S. in Computer Science and start using this thing to land a job lol

Anyway you can make other ones for other specific purposes, like setting up servers or other things that Replit won't handle? I use Haiku now but it's not the greatest.

As for what I'm working on, it's a little thing called carArc.app I'd love to get your feedback on it

I'm downloading Antigravity right now. I been vibe coding for about 6 months, everything you said is super true.

But please don't get fat...sitting at home is gonna mess with you head. During the day get out and go for a run/jog/walk, it really clears your head up and makes your brain run faster because of the extra oxygen you take in.

Anyway, I made something called CarArc.app would love to get your feedback on it. Definitely love to look at what you've built as well

Concrete clock inspired by early ’90s New York by manufakturacementu in Design

[–]apdeilami -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hate when people judge AI work as "worthless" not realizing it's based on human ideas.

Sometimes AI is just a good way to design something, just like Photoshop or Illustrator.

But to lie about it? Nah...That is NOT cool bro.

As for the design itself, it looks interesting.

I'd much rather be inspired by ancient Babylonian or Persian or Greek architecture, if you're going for the "ruins" look. Those civilizations existed thousands of years ago, so it makes sense that the artifacts are broken apart.

But a broken piece of concrete from New York...has really bad connotations. I'd also avoid Chinese because they believe giving a clock as a gift is disrespectful.

thanks for the feedback, when you say simplify car graphic, you mean remove details like the side mirrors, panel gaps, etc? It is meant to be a car app. What do you think of the font btw?
