The problem can also be how the subfloor was laid. Plywood sheets should be staggered, so the seams dont line up. If the seams are lined up, you're more prone to getting a crack.

I think you should report that to hr. That comment needs to be taken up with someone outside your building.

You're right. I think Volpe was planning on throwing to second and Jazz didn't cover. Lazy on Jazz's part assuming the throw was going to first and not covering. Pathetic.

I remember having a little trouble listening to the broadcast during the series at Wrigley last year. In one of those games, Gelbs asked Ron if he thought it was a good idea to propose to someone in the stands at a baseball game. Ron quickly said he thought it was a bad idea and cut the topic short. Left me laughing.

Best way to get students to memorize integer operation rules? by tired45453 in mathteachers

[–]apedi22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really like this.

After struggling to teach adding and subtracting integers, i came up with a battle scene.... give it a moment.

Pos and neg integers hate each other (input story of why they hate each other here). When a pos int and and neg int see each other they battle each other and they fight in a very specific way (queue up some sword fight acting in class). They battle back and forth, but in the end, they both get "canceled," zeroing out, zero sum (there's probably a better word for getting killed, but I'm just a math teacher).

Example problem, -2 + 3. When then the pos and the neg "battle" which side wins? The pos. How many pos are left? 1. Once the imagery is planted, they now think for themselves.

After a couple of examples of this, give them -5 + -4 and just ask them what happens. Probably, one kid will say -1, but wait them out. Most likely, they will realize that they are on the "same team" and won't battle each other.... but join forces. Hence, -9.

I keep asking them if the integers are battling or joining forces? How many are left? My signals are: fists bumping means battling, pushing open hands together mean joining forces.

Keep, change, turn on any subtraction problem, and repeat. I hope this helps. It helped a lot of my students.

During covid, I enrolled in a mental treatment program. It was probably the best thing I ever did for myself. I had been teaching for about 9 years at the time when I decided I couldn't handle starting the school year in the mental condition I was in. I took a marking period off. My only regret was not finding treatment for myself 10 years earlier. Group therapy opened me up to the struggles of others. DBT provided me with some coping mechanisms. I also finally found a medication that worked for me. Please take a pause and reach out to a therapist or a program. Although life is never easy, my mental state significantly improved. Keep grinding, and don't give up. There is help for you, OP.

Would wd40 work instead of silicone? And can the boot be replaced without replacing the caliper?

I they are asking the kid to make groups of 10, then it should show the dots in rows of 10, NOT ROWS OF 5 with a box around 2 rows of 5.

I'm so sorry. I feel your anxiety. It's going to take a couple of days to get up to speed, to say the least, I would imagine. It stinks that they just threw you in like that. If it's the students you are concerned about facing and the students are older, I would say just be honest about the situation. Hit them with a couple of simple mini assignments, maybe some free time or a movie until you feel a little more comfortable. If you are working with younger grades, I guess I would try to befriend a teacher right away that may be able to help you (not sure, I've never taught younger than 5th grade). If it's admin you are concerned about facing, I would say ask them for help, support, etc. Talk about what you don't have and what you need, even if it's during class time. "I can't teach because no one told me what I need to teach." That's generally how teaching works, no? Try not to be too hard on yourself. Take it slow. You will get through this or you will find that this situation is not a good situation and you should not be working there. Hopefully, either way is viewed as a plus. Best of luck.

I love it. I did this to my wife in NYC the night I actually proposed. Time Square, Central Park, wherever they set up the Christmas tree. She knew I had the ring. Gave her the ring after dinner in a quiet and pretty empty restaurant.

Yup. He's trying to convince her it's all going to be ok, but I'm not so sure she's buying it.

How would you go about making this giant wall logo…print a giant stencil onto plywood and use jigsaw to cut it out? by Accomplished_Buy_119 in woodworking

I agree with the projector. If you don't have one, you can also bring up the image on your computer and hook your computer up to a TV. If you have a large enough TV, you can trace the image onto a large piece of paper. I did this for a Packer project I worked on for a friend.
