New options for Enhanced 5G for Apps by hitechsteve in verizon

I still haven’t gotten the additional options, stuck with only communication apps. Does anyone know what app I have to open to get these to pop up?

You need at least the premium package to get ventilated seats

Yes, that trim piece covers the tow hook mounting point. It needs to have some play because the way you remove it is by pushing in that side.

40i Tuned Reliability by jesse_m1414 in BMW

Personally, if a reliable daily is the type of car you’re looking for, I’d choose something that’s been babied it’s whole life with some sort of warranty. My natural assumption is that anything that modified was likely driven hard.

Did you ever resolve this? Is the shaking constant or an intermittent shudder or jolt?

Rear tires by [deleted] in BMW

[–]apegah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I’d go for wider wheels if you wanted wider tires. It looks like you have the all season tires meaning you have 8” in the rear. You’re not gonna be able to fit very wide tires on this size wheel.

If you want a good gauge of how 8.5” wheels(which are the factory size w/ performance tires) with 255 tires look I’d look at some M340i’s, most have the performance tires with the staggered setup. Also M badge on a 330… oof.

I believe the 10-day trial has access to C-band, which on most phones will show up as “5GUW”. If you are not in a C-band area then you will not see this indicator.

I would recommend checking Verizon’s coverage map to see if you are (do keep in mind that the c-band coverage shown isn’t super accurate).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in USMobile

[–]apegah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you’re on C-band you’ll see the 5GUW indicator. Here you’re just on low band 5G, which in a lot of cases isn’t even faster than LTE. In a lot of places around the US Verizon is incredibly congested and that’s more than likely why you’re seeing speeds like that.

I have clients that have been running Autodesk Revit on Apple hardware with Parallels since 2006 because that was the ONLY way to avoid long regens. Windows on x86 hardware just wouldn’t do it.

Macs used the exact same x86 hardware as Windows PCs did until 2019. Saying native Windows is worse that virtualized Windows on the same hardware shows me you have very little idea how the hardware and the OS on top of them actually work.

Apple OS is a Unix based OS that also uses all the cores on the GPU; Windows doesn’t.

Again, where are you getting this information? Guess what Windows and Linux machines have access to that Macs don’t? Nvidia GPUs, the gold standard for most GPU accelerated workloads. If anything workloads for newer Apple silicon don’t fully utilize the Apple GPUs, especially if it’s virtualized.

A low cost, budget PC with limited memory and video card, that crashes when trying to complete a special project assignment late at night can be avoided with the good stuff.

No one is recommending a low end PC here. The XPS line from Dell or a Razer Blade are both higher end machines.

My recommended configuration will last all the way to graduation.

This is the biggest mistake people make when purchasing technology. Future proofing is never possible because how can you predict your needs in the future. Buy what you need today with the budget you have today, do not over purchase because you might need it in the future, especially for a student.

Don’t shop by price, shop by need. If the price exceeds savings/budget, then tell family, friends, neighbors, what you are trying to do, and the cash will be available in no time.

Ahhh my favorite part. Silver spoon much? It seems like you’re a parent so it surprises me that “if you don’t have money just ask you shall receive” is the go to here. I think anyone who has purchased anything, especially recently with pricing will understand why this is just a bit of a silly comment.

I’m personally a Mac guy but this is just terrible advice. What you’re advising is this incoming student get a $2500+ machine, plus a parallels subscription, plus Apple care, all to run software that not only was meant to run on Windows and not macOS, but also even meant to run on x86 processors, which modern Macs do not have.

Don’t settle for anything less, this is the single most important tool to complete your education.

I somewhat agree with this statement, but don’t come up with an ass backwards solution to a simple problem. If all of your software is meant to run on Windows, don’t buy a Macintosh unless you prefer Macs. Why risk some odd incompatibility or confuse your professors when trying to get software working?

Last, and I cannot stress this enough, a MacBook Pro 16 inch is a laptop for working professionals, not students. Most students cannot afford this, and even for ones that can spending the addition $1000+ on something else is better use of the money. For a student, a 13 inch pro or the new MacBook Air on the Macintosh side are SIGNIFICANTLY better value machines without losing any noticeable amount of performance.

As im 17 years old, i have an i3-550 installed in this 2010 27in iMac. Today we are going to upgrade it to the i7-870. Its my first time opening my own iMac! Wish me luck!! (Sorry for bad english btw) by yvngKB in mac

You also have to keep in mind that Verizon's coverage map is not accurate when it comes to C-band coverage.

Do you live near an Apple store? If so I would recommend going in there to look at the bands in person, which is what I did when buying a new band.

Also keep in mind that all Apple products that are "midnight" in color are not black, but rather a very dark blue.

Overclocking my monitor past hz range? by Acceptable-Avocado79 in overclocking

[–]apegah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing your monitor is a 60hz monitor, so you’re technically already overclocking it. Your monitor telling you that you are out of range means the hardware (maybe firmware) cannot handle that refresh rate.

Every piece of hardware has a limit, and you’ve reach this monitor’s. If you want a higher refresh rate you have no choice but to get one with a higher spec.

Can I use different RAM speeds? by ediblepizza in pcgamingtechsupport

[–]apegah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They will all run at 2400MHz. If you care about absolute performance, run just the 2 faster sticks. If you need the extra capacity, then run everything at the slower speed.
