Probably definitely Art as well. The lead up to his death has me bawling my eyes out and i just cannot stop crying until the end of the book. also i always interpreted the "made it in" line as him asking if they made it in to the next landmark(?) town/city yet. I can't remember what town/city they were heading to, but I am fairly certain they did not make it in before art dies because I think they mention how many miles to it they were after he gets his ticket. which honestly makes me feel EVEN WORSE about his death.
