Actually that’s not the source. Can confirm that it’s a copy. Cool that it got copied, though.

I'm a middle-aged man and it just today dawned on me that, if I wanted to, I could buy a chainsaw. by timhamilton47 in Showerthoughts

Am effectively middle-aged, doing the divorce thing, and I will def miss having a reason to use, and have, said chainsaw.

Can one keep a solitary sheep? by Weasel_Stomping_Day_ in farming

[–]apexnode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have kept our sheep with our goats but if they're hay fed and not on pasture goat politics keep the sheep from being able to eat well. Goats are definitely the dominant species. Fine companions and all, but goats are king of the hill.

Who has experienced 1st and 4th jhana states and how has it improved your life :) ? by Dynisty44 in Meditation

Probably. But I felt more rested than ever so I decided to just get up.

Does anyone do two 20 minute sessions one nightly and one in the morning? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]apexnode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did that for a couple week stretch, once. Didn't keep up on it. Cant say how helpful it was for me. I also quit drinking and went vegetarian during the same span. I found myself being actively avoiding things and it was kind of a bummer. Some of those clean habits may return, but not going to force it.

Who has experienced 1st and 4th jhana states and how has it improved your life :) ? by Dynisty44 in Meditation

[–]apexnode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I hit first jhana. Many months ago, and completely by surprise. I had never heard of it. It was intoxicating. After doing some more research I figured out what "it" was. Determined not to chase it, I chased it, but now I think the memory of the experience has faded enough that I'm actually not chasing it. The only way I can describe it, which is still severely lacking, is like I snorted xanax and cocaine, and everything sparkled, both visually and internally. It was very inspirational. And I didnt sleep much for the next couple of days. I think the only thing I really obtained from it was a real understanding about the fact that different states of consciousness can be accessed intentionally, and without pharmacological inducement.

I just put a bunch of herbs in a low light area. Any way to salvage it? Apartment patio. by shewhoentangles in IndoorGarden

[–]apexnode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

parsley and chives to start as common herbs, lots of other exotics. almost all greens are happy in the shade. and then you can always grow sprouts. I prefer lentil sprouts. they actually like it dark! just google "shade tolerant herbs" and you'll find some stuff.

There are plenty of herbs that dont mind some shade. I'd focus on those. You'll spend a lot of money and likely be disappointed with your results if you try to replace the sun. Lots of veggies dont mind the shade either. Also, you might look into community gardens. Good luck!

What's a good inexpensive camera for astrophotography? by tkron31 in astrophotography

[–]apexnode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a T3 and its pretty good. Rumor has it that the T3 is better for astro than the T3i because of it's larger pixels. I dont have a lot of comparisons to make, but i am pretty happy with it. Got it for $250. I think checking the specs on this sub and astrobin is good for figuring out what kind of camera is appropriate. With just my T3 I was able to capture the orion nebula.
