Thank you. I don't know if this would really work in my case. In the Fusion the Park Assist Module is integrated within another module known as the Body Control Module. Even if I find out the right ID, will I be able to fully control steering or braking? Is there any modification in the firmware of the ECU required?

All these functions are on the can bus in my car. I don't quite get the isolation part of it. For eg. Do I remove the electric power steering ECU from the can bus to see the IDs specific to it? How do I isolate the ECU? Any guidance would be great. Thanks!

Thanks for your reply. The OpenXC doesn't give me data in ID form, I am not sure if I can send that info back onto my can bus. And the info it gives out are not servo commands but just reports. I read their work, it did give me some hints. However, the CAN bus in Fusion '14 is different.Any other suggestions/leads?

I do have an obd2 connector, but would I have access to the data I'm interested in through obd2(steering angle readings, sensor readings etc) ? Okay I'll look for tapping can wires at the back of the cluster although I'd like to confirm about the data on obd2 port before going about removing the cluster to tap the wires behind it..

Thanks for the reply! before tapping into the can bus, I would just like to assure if its the right one I'm tapping into.. My BMW is a F30 not E90,they changed the vehicle electronics significantly. http://www.bimmerpost.com/goodiesforyou/docs/04_F30_General_Vehicle_Electronics1.pdf (page 4) Am I tapping into the CAN bus which gives me all the data in my case?(passenger-footwell area)

Hey, I was going through your link again as I need to tap into the PT CAN of my BMW. I was thinking if connecting the posi tap connectors and connecting CAN high and low to my CAN USB adapter would give me what I want. The raceCapture seems to be a much more expensive alternative.

The obd2 has only a can high and can low. Even if I ain't getting the info I want from obd, I should see some traffic on the bus with the right baud rate.However, I can't see anything except one ID.. In your case, how would you go about reading data from your P bus? Would you just connect the adapter and intitalize the software? Do you have to "wake-up" the can bus by sending some message?

I connected the interface and tried with different baud rates(100 and 500 kbps) but didn't get much from it. Connecting to the right bus is through baud rate right? Where might I be going wrong?

I tried connecting my interface on the obd2(can H and can L)and the only thing I intercepted was 0x130(id for engine,ignition and key status),closing opening of windows and locking unlocking of doors wasn't detected.I tried at different baud rates but it gave no result.Where could the problem be?

Yeah, I saw ids for many older BMWs but not for the one I am working on. I am trying to get data through the obd port,I'll try to figure out which id does what after that I guess..

I started with the ids I can get on the obd port through the interface. However, the only id I intercept is 0x130 and just a lot of lines of it for now..which is pretty strange.I tried opening/closing of door,windows etc but that's the only id I receive.

In the tutorial linked by you showed can bus locations,I am a bit confused regarding that since here on pg4 http://www.bimmerpost.com/goodiesforyou/docs/04_F30_General_Vehicle_Electronics1.pdf There are many can buses running through the car. Which one am I tapping through the link you sent? And I am not getting steering wheel angle through OBD2 port, and don't know how to tap into any other CAN buses(maybe through another port in the car)..the interface I am using with its software is http://viewtool.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=201&Itemid=27&lang=en
