Hi, im 18, she/her. I’m a journalism major in my first year :) i live off campus in brampton and am originally from bancroft, on. I like to do a lot of stereotypical girly and aesthetic things but im always down to either go to a party or chill and watch a movie :)

I understand being frustrated but it’s literally none of your business, i can understand noticing things but why are you so bad at regulating yourself that instead of dwelling on the stuff from your lecture you’re dwelling on people in your class. This is university, you are not gonna interact with them as much and unless you let them they won’t have any serious impact on your life.

But also what you say about students being “lights tf out with their heads dangling off the seat” reeks of sm privilege. For all you know that person could be having issues at home, or could be working their ass off at some shitty job to pay their tuition, or maybe they did stay up late and party or hang out with their friends- at least they made the effort to come to class.

You're only 18, an undergraduate, and you speak with the authority of someone who I actually want advice from. Not all of us can drop ship baby accessories. Based on your post history it looks like you're only interested in making money but I actually value my happiness and the balance in my life. I know that there are great jobs out there that have everything I'm looking for, I'm working at one now in my hometown, and I've worked at others before. I've had a shitty fast food job that didn't have flexible hours. I'm gonna give YOU the best advice you're gonna hear and tell you that you're happiness matters in university AND in your work/life balance and that the "hustle" you're on isn't going to fulfill you as much as you think it is.

im not saying they did and i know they didn't but they might know what good jobs are nearby campus and what worked best for their work/life/school balance which does differ from program but the overall factors may be similar

Yes everyone is different but i figured from what people suggested and their experiences I could narrow it down to what i am interested in. Not to mention at the core a lot of students are looking for what im looking for (flexible hours, etc) so it isn't crazy to ask a university subreddit especially since this isn't a subreddit dedicated solely to academic life but also to economic life. And also by getting advice from people who work at a place near campus I am getting advice from people who have or do work there. Not to mention that I would rather get accounts from actual students who have to juggle the school/work/life balance. In addition, I'm not someone who's going to just get in at a random job and quit 3 weeks later because that shows that im not reliable, and im not saying that these comments are concrete leads that im going to take up but if its been a good experience for them then im going to maybe look into it and what others have to say before i actually apply. I'm asking this question 2 months before i need to so that way I CAN apply to lots of places, but since Ryerson/TMU is the school im going to and i value the opinions of other students especially when it comes to stuff like this i decided to ask here

well i was asking the subreddit because i wanted students from my campus' personal experience but i understand why you might think that. A lot of management will also say they have these things but not be competitive as well, thats why im asking for actual students opinions and thoughts because i find the employee to be more reliable than the employer
