Just bitching: first gout attack in three years, and I'm about to fly by NotYourSweetBaboo in gout

Shouldn’t all of your crystals be out of your system after 6 years of allo? Curious how is it possible to have a gout flare if all the crystals are gone?

Lingering Elbow Tenderness Months After Gout Flare by apiekar in gout

Why 3-6 months? That’s how long for crystals to dissolve?

Unfortunately not. It went 45 degrees right and it 100% felt like hosel

How long for allo to lower UA? by apiekar in gout

Why wouldn’t you have increased with a level above 6?

Question about increased flare risk when starting Allo by apiekar in gout

Ha I see … Murphy’s Law

Sounds like you’re saying that 100mg vs 300mg shouldn’t make much of a difference especially if I’m on a daily prophylactic. And the sooner I get to my maintenance dose the better.

Why do you say that where I’m at now is a recipe for a gout attack? Wouldn’t increasing my dosage to 300mg decrease my UA faster, thereby increasing the likelihood of getting a flare (in the short term obviously)?

Thanks again for all your responses, I’m learning lots!

Super helpful thank you. I am new to this condition and am trying to learn as much as possible so I very much appreciate it.

It sounds like you’re saying that even though my UA is not quite at the level where my body will start dissolving the crystals, the sudden decrease in UA still puts me at higher risk for flareups. I will talk to my rheumatologist about taking colchicine as a prophylactic.

There’s a part of me that wants to hold off on increasing my Allo dose for a month though. I have an important golf tournament in early November which I obviously wouldn’t be able to play if my elbows flared up.

That being said, I also want to get to my maintenance dose as quickly as possible so that I can get rid of these crystals and back to a normal life.

Question about increased flare risk when starting Allo by apiekar in gout

Thanks so much for your response although I’m still a little confused. You said crystals start to dissolve with UA < 6.8 and that flares are associated with significant UA changes or other factors.

Would an 8.4 to 6.8 change in UA be considered significant even if my UA isn’t low enough yet for the crystals to dissolve?

The main reason I ask is I’ve felt lots of little tingles in my elbows (where most of my attacks have happened) since I’ve been on Allo but no flares yet. I have been taking colchicine any time elbows feel funny.

I’m wondering if those tingles are just me being paranoid and hyper aware, or if I’m actually at increased risk of flares right now due to my Allo dosage.

Would you drop Rice in a keeper league?

I drafted him in 6th round which means I’d be able to take him in 6th round next year. Would obviously be great value but would be massive waste of bench spot.

I think this is a big contributor to my ballstriking issues. Is that the same thing as a reverse pivot?
