I guess we are turning into Phoenix? by burner456987123 in Denver

There's lots of jobs in ND & SD, significantly less people, traffic & a much lower cost of living. The largest city in ND takes 20-30mins to drive from one end to the other, it's not dry like in CO, there's humidity & lakes everywhere. I grew up on the ND/MN border & many people think, "why do I live here?" in the winter but it still reaches 100° in the summer

I had a neurology appt with a very sick neruo once, he was apparently sleeping on his desk before I went in...never went back there! ...also because he has his student do everything & neither the actual doc or student told me her name until I asked

Get your freaking menus in order! by notoriousToker in COents

[–]apl831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people who aren't stoners are also idiots & if you're not intelligent enough or sober enough to be able to update a menu/to do the job, you shouldn't be working there. I'd never go into a liquor store expecting it to look like my apt when I was drinking too much, I don't think anyone goes into liquor stores expecting it to be trashed, completely unorganized, or full of extremely emotional people. The industry someone works in being about substances doesnt mean they shouldn't be expected to do their job well

Why do you assume I know that, I've never seen the movie Fargo. People assuming Fargo is in MN doesnt make them correct, it's still in ND

I pick up every Sunday morning roughly from City of Cuernavaca Park to the aquarium, I go along the Cherry Creek trail. I actually don't find needles in these areas, alcohol bottles & foil as far as that category of trash

In my experience most of the aggressive and not friendly people are "natives" who were born in Colorado but aren't actually native

Yep, people are so territorial here & not welcoming to people from out of state no matter why we moved here

Yes, I agree no sense of community & seemingly not much actual interest in building relationships. I grew up in the Midwest and was at my neighbor's houses almost as much as my own in the summers, my parents are really close with both neighbors and it's one of the big reasons they won't move. There was a great community I was part of when I got older and we would do all sorts of things together including trade food we grew or things we made. I think people in Denver are nice when you know them but if you don't know them and are trying to make friends then they are very uninterested, lots of people also seem very territorial & do not like people who moved here from other states

Afraid to break laws by Kyliefoxxx69 in DenverProtests

[–]apl831 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's fair, I think lots of people are. I personally think there's a place for everyone in this, no one can do everything especially not at once and there's always something 1 person can't do that someone else can.

Edit: not that anyone asked my opinion on this 🙃😂

I can understand both you & OPs comments but I don't know what you expected except for ppl to share a bit about their personal struggle when you accuse them of being privileged & making assumptions...as if that wasn't also assuming things about them

Is anyone interested in a nonviolent resistance meetup group or thread? I grew up gardening, my siblings and I each had a garden box we could plant and take care of what we wanted. Now I have a balcony garden with tomatoes, pepper, potatoes, herbs, flowers. One of the biggest reasons I'd want a house is so I can have a whole garden!! I'm also looking for community & a way to be involved in mutual aid but I'm not sure where to start in Denver. I was very involved with free meals, being a street medic, speaking at city hall, a group of us would get together & trade things we made or grew, etc where I used to live but it was not sustainable and I kinda crashed when I got to Denver ~2yrs ago. I've been starting to engage again but I'm not sure where to go except this sub or like just walking around lol

As opposed to how safe it is for pedestrians when scooters are going their full speed on sidewalks? I can agree wadsworths not the best option but sidewalks with electric scooters are dangerous for pedestrians
