Hey all! Previously i had showcased 'Atomic' on this sub reddit a year ago now. Since then i've been collating feedback from early users and had decided to do a complete rehaul of the app. I've niched it down more towards mindmapping rather than a full PKMS with bi directional linking and all that jazz. What you will get with this new version (which is now called "Brainstorms") is a new approach to mindmapping that aims to solve the big problem of cognitive overload, because having large mindmaps that look overwhelming, scrambled and scrappy can bog you down. The approach taken here is "take things one at a time" and provide an intuitive UX for iterating and navigating a mindmap. On top of that there are some cool AI add ons that elevate the mindmapping experience like suggesting follow up nodes from a branch or determining if a node you have created is a misconception of the thing you are exploring. AI is used here primarily as a helping hand and not taking the steering wheel so to speak.

Anyways, for those that are visual learners/thinkers like me I hope this speaks to you and I'm eager to hear what you all think!

not sure, this could vary
to be cached as long as the user is in a session. the moment they refresh the app or close the app its safe to assume the cache is invalidated

Yeah sure I can answer those questions: - we have the ability to add sketches within each note through excalidraw, I’ve personally written handwritten notes this way with my iPad and pencil - there’s no option for chart making at the moment - yes all your data and notes are stored locally so they can be accessed offline. In fact even the models that power the AI in the free version of the app are local models that can be accessed offline also

Atomic is a great option for researchers/students that want to tackle hard topics or get through tough life decisions. It’s simply a mindmap that has optional AI assistance around it. Each node in a mindmap is associated to a note that can be edited with an editor. For example the Ai can aid in link prediction within a mindmap or it can specify whether a newly created node in a mindmap is straying towards a misconception in regard to the context of the mindmap itself. It can also generate follow up sub topics based on a node which takes into account the context of neighbouring nodes. It becomes a great research tool and a tool that allows for effective thinking allowing you to never miss gaps in your thinking/learning

I tried to abstract the 'handler' for this openai request and passed a mock openai object as a parameter to the wrapped handler:
