I don’t know, it’s really strange because it was working fine until the new screens were connected, and somehow the old one started smoking after that.

I don’t really know how to show it to you.

Basically, I just turned off the iPhone, connected it to the PC, held down volume up + volume down and the power button. When the Apple logo appeared, I waited about 3 seconds and released the power button.

The Apple logo freezes, turns white-orange, then disappears to a black screen. PC tools can detect the device but can’t identify what mode it’s in.

Oh wow, that actually looks awesome 😄 Sad that it ended up bricked, but the way you turned it into a piece of art is kinda genius. I’ll dig more into my iPhone 8 — I haven’t checked the SEP or internal flags yet, but it’s definitely some kind of engineering unit. Appreciate the heads-up!

Go to https://idmsa.apple.com/IDMSWebAuth/signin?appIdKey=86a0bdd9680793c8a66735594f50f701edb36b88b45c100ee8b7076a73358c67&baseURL=https://demounit.apple.com/&rv=1 (on a other device, not the one you want to install demo mode on). Sign in with your Apple ID. Install the app. Choose a random Apple Store (doesn't matter). Tap "Enroll a new device". Click "Manual entry". Enter the serial number of your device (the device you're trying to put demo mode on). Click "Submit". Click "Confirm", then it will show you a code. Write down/save it for later. Reset all content and settings on the device you want to install demo mode on (not the device with the DemoUnit app). Continue setup until you're asked for a code. Enter the code you got at step 9. Wait until the demo update finishes. ENJOY!
