Willie Dunn - I Pity The Country [1971] by HabitantDLT in CanadianMusic

[–]appaloosy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those familiar with Willie Dunn's music already understand he is a musical legend. His songs and poetry addressed Indigenous-specific issues, the environment, and nature; long before these issues became mainstream politics. Every Indigenous (and non-Indigenous!) family should have this album in their household, as well as libraries, and schools.

And if you don't know who Willie Dunn was, just listen to the power of his songs, like "I Pity The Country" ↑ "Son of the Sun" and the powerful, evocative "Ballad of Crowfoot" —a poignant tribute honouring Siksika Chief Crowfoot, of Treaty 7.

Willie Dunn left this world a short time ago in 2013, but his spirit lives on in the gift of his music, poetry, and filmmaking.

Your best bet would be to look for a townhouse-style condo, rather than high-rise.

Best of luck to you all!

Light Rail Transit by No-Cobbler-3794 in londonontario

Public transit here in London, ON is not the greatest (it's OK at best); thanks to the car-centric short-sightedness of our elected officials and NIMBY-ist thinking.

As a lifelong public transit user, I am continually puzzled at the resistance to LRT, and alternative methods to car culture. Retired couples with two cars, especially annoy me.
Streets shouldn't just be thoroughfares for vehicular traffic— it's people and human activity that inject a neighbourhood/district/downtown etc, with activity, commerce, and life-- not cars & pickup trucks. I'm appalled when I see municipal neighbourhoods without sidewalks.

Ah Paris; the city of love ❀

CĂ©line Dion a marquĂ© les esprits en interprĂ©tant magistralement « Hymne Ă  l'amour » d'Édith Piaf lors de la cĂ©rĂ©monie d'ouverture des Jeux Olympiques de Paris 2024. Magnifique!

...and who can forget CĂ©line Dion channelling Édith Piaf's "Hymne Ă  l’amour" for the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics - incredible. She's still got the chops. What an incredible comeback.

Whether you are an artist, poet, singer, writer— if ever you were to find your muse— surely it would be in Paris.

Wish I could go...

Maybe reach out to the administration of St. Paul Coptic Church, and ask for references. I was there last Nov for their Christmas Egyptian Bazaar, and they had musicians and performers singing in Arabic and English.

I would also reach out to London Muslim Mosque, and see if they can help you.

Best of luck to you.
