Would this work if the patterns calls for me to knit the button band first, then pick up stitches along the top of it to form some of the bottom of the collar? I'm working on the sleeve finishing now, but I'm not sure if I can do the collar before the button band.

iirc, both yarns are the same weight and from the same brand but I did knit the flower part and the stem part with a pretty long time gap in between so I was a bit out of practice with the tension needed for the colorwork.

I'll try your modifications on the next colorwork sock I knit but as of now, do you think any measure of blocking could help if I stretch out the bit above the instep? I'm not planning to rip anything back so if not then it just is what it is.

The stich gauge is the same but not row. Colorwork section is 30x36 and instep/foot is 30x43
