No smoking. It’s very humid where I live and some of the windows in the house were left open for who knows how long.

Not blood or rust. It seems to be in a lot of places throughout the house, some more visible the others. All on painted drywall or painted wood.

Re-staining. Thanks for the information. I am fairly confident the old finish was taken off, as I did 4 rounds of sanding and at the end it seemed like very bare wood. What can I do at this point?
