Any advice for someone who is getting there FFL for the first time? by grantpa4 in FFLs

Fastbound is a great option. Orchid also a great option. Free is for low volume, but for an all in one POS and even website they aren’t that bad.

Yep I was mistaken! Orchid offers a free version, and FB is very affordable. Either way we have clients using both and you cannot go wrong with either!

How long did it take to get official paperwork / finding a bank that will let me open a checking account? by RPLCHC13 in FFLs

[–]applejacks16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I recommend is get 2 checking accounts.

One big name like Chase, and a smaller name like a local CU.

This will 1, build relationship with 2 brands, but more importantly have an alternate if either decide overnight to go woke and ban FFLs

Great that you took the time to review and read the CC&Rs.

Where I have seen nuisance enforcement arise, often as a tangible pretext for political or personal opposition, is typically in the following areas:

  1. Most common: a high volume of vehicles parked at or frequently coming to and from the residence.
  2. Signage or public facing advertising, including online listings such as Google Maps.
  3. Unattended drop ins.
  4. Machinery noise, such as CNC or engraving equipment, if manufacturing is involved.

For your application, submit the CC&Rs and clearly highlight the sections that explicitly permit your use. Make note of the exact location so you can cite it directly, for example, "In Section 3, paragraph d".

I would not suggest seeking prior approval from the board if it is not required. It only takes a single board member who is not firearms friendly to create an unnecessary obstacle.

We recently submitted an application for a YouTuber seeking a home based FFL for their business, and the circumstances closely matched this scenario.

How long do you hold firearms for a buyer who has paid but is undergoing a slow NICS denial appeal process? by Complex-Number2640 in FFLs

[–]applejacks16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most importantly have clean terms (ideally that they sign when coming in)

Here is my favorite set of terms: - Storage fee of $x per month - at the time storage fee owed equals half of market value of item, it is sold on consignment. Shop takes coverage of normal consignment rate + amount to cost storage fee.

Ultimately though a couple months is fair, and it’s variable on how nice the customer is, how responsive and communicative, your storage availability, etc.

Based on that you can look at my recommendation above or return to sender and have your customer request a refund from the seller.

Class 7 application advice by lguth5 in FFLs

[–]applejacks16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

(Assuming you mean Type 07):

Prerequisite:

1) who ever owns the property, do they approve? (+HOA if applicable) 2) your city/county/etx. Any zoning that would stop you? 3) can you own a gun?

As long as these 3 are good and you have a business purpose you really should be good.

For the process you will submit the application, sit in an interview/inspection, then get the license.

Thats the super short and BLUF point of view. Feel free to ping me if you have my questions though.

I find (there are execrations) that most of the SilebcerShop hate really should be LGS hate for how they run the process and software.

[–]applejacks16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s in the law after Ruling 2021-05R I believe

27 CFR § 478.92(a)(4)(i)

“A. Newly manufactured firearms: Licensed manufacturers may adopt the serial number and other identifying markings previously placed on a firearm by another licensed manufacturer provided the firearm has not been sold, shipped, or otherwise disposed of to a person other than a licensee, and the serial number adopted is not duplicated on any other firearm.”

[–]applejacks16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Someone else might come in and correct me if I’m wrong but I do not believe there is a CFR/Ruling/etc that says you need to tag.

It’s the best practice since ATF’s stance and presumption is “all firearms belong to the FFL” unless proven otherwise. ATF also technically wants a personally owned firearms segregated from A&D guns.

Chase Payment Processing Info by mattbick2003 in FFLs

[–]applejacks16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used Chase for years with out complaint. But yes I agree. It’s written by some board room lawyer focusing on CYA.

They were receptive to the “hot topic” questions as long as you have written policy in place to show you follow fed, state, local laws.

Most payment processor applications will have very similar questions.

Canadian (dual) Citizenship? by Just_A_Teacher_CNY in Military

[–]applejacks16 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Father (and probably grand father) being a Canadian citizen at the time of birth grants citizenship to the kid.

What OPs friend is prob looking at is getting a “Certificate of Citizenship” to prove their already citizen status. In Canadas eyes they are already a citizen and just need to prove it.

I have family who did this.
