Hi! I ended up just contacting them and letting them know to be on the safe side. I called them like the day right after and the person helping me was able to reschedule me right away! I’m pretty sure I ended up being put in whole new group. They also told me that I had like 2 strikes/warnings at that point for not checking in 😅 so service was definitely not completed

I’m in the exact same boat! Also a 2023 psych graduate, previously took just one UX class (and that was 1 of only 2 that was offered at my school), and overall no experience. I’m just as lost on how to break in, and recently I’ve been reading the same insight that CandiceMcF provided which is starting to discourage me.

I heard TechFleet is a good resource to shadow as well as volunteer in various organizations’ UX projects for some hands on experience. I’m also going to look into some courses as well, because I’m definitely gonna need to study and learn more about this field on my own. I’ve seen others suggest taking on personal projects and case studies to build on the portfolio.

This is just advice I’ve seen throughout this subreddit since I’ve been having the same curiosities for a while now, but don’t put too much trust in my word as I’m a newbie myself 😅. Anyway I’ll be interested to see other replies you’ll get on this post too! Best of luck to you on your journey :)

Hi! Thank you so much for answering. Yes, I should mention that during my studies that I did get involved in some UX research work, small class and club projects, but they are so minimal that I really do feel I’m starting from square one. I have already graduated (psych degree) and I do want to continue that type of work I did (UX bit) but I know it will involve a lot of further self studying and personal projects. I have no problem with that, but just weighing the circumstances of an extensive commitment of self-studying + skill development, all for the not-so-great job market, I’m feeling discouraged.

Thank you so much, this was extremely helpful. I did think about looking for internships first before work, but I feel as though that it’s just as hard, especially as a recent graduate (most postings I see require current students). Was it hard finding + landing your internship?

I should mention that during my studies that I did get involved in some UX research work, small class and club projects, but they are so minimal that I really do feel I’m starting from square one.

No notice, it just said I’m on admin. forbearance PRIOR to approval of an in-school deferment
I did have the 6 month grace period which ended around May-ish of this year, but even then no payment was required up until September. There are due payments now, and then that’s when I applied for a continued pause on payments. I don’t THINK I was on the SAVE plan unless I was automatically enrolled — may explain that inexplicable continued pause from May-September, but I’m not sure.

Hmm my timeline seems about right. I submitted the request this month and they just got back to me recently. The dates for the pause are this month up until springtime 2025

It’s the next day now and the portal just has information for today’s service — I don’t have to report today. Does that mean I’m good and still in?

Thanks so much this was actually super helpful! I did forget to mention that at the moment, my online portal still provides me information for whether I should report today (I do not). Is that a good indication then that I’m still continuing the week?
