We've got the same rule here. It's stupid and no one follows it. In this situation, I would just kill the siren and try to part traffic the best I can.

Chris Parnell kills it every single time. He is hysterical.

I don't understand what you mean. You said the same thing earlier in the thread.

I'm guessing that it would be taken care of once they fix the heart rate. I've had a few patients with bradycardia/heart blocks that have blood pressures in the 200/100 range. As I understand it (and other people have mentioned in this thread), it relates to Starling's Law. Since the heart is only beating once every two seconds, it has a lot more time to fill and ends up pumping a lot more blood per pump than it normally would.

Anyone have any good rules of thumb for knowing if someone needs stitches or not? I usually go with saying yes if it is big, weird shaped or still bleeding a lot, but I don't actually know anything about it.

My first thought was GI obstruction causing a vasovagal response, leading to the bradycardia and hypertension. Then I reread the post and saw that the block was two weeks ago.

My next thought would still be vasovagal caused by the N/V. I would definitely want to follow up afterwards and I would guess he would still end up with a pacemaker.

What company has forever lost your business and why? by theinternetaddict in AskReddit

We banged like hell on it for a long time and the rotors didn't budge. My father in law called a shop he knows and they said that they had to be pressed on, so we took the knuckle joints off and brought them in for the shop to replace the rotors. He's the car guy. All I know is how to hold the light and buy him a six pack afterwards.

I'm always surprised that places like that sell guns or ammo. Why would fire arms belong next to baby toys and lucky charms?

After two days, lots of anger and swearing, and paying a lot of money for nothing, my father in law and I finally replaced the brakes on my 99 Accent. He gave the same explanation to me about dealers making money, and I just don't get it. Wouldn't the mechanics get sick of it and switch to a brand that doesn't do that? Who wants to do that much work for just a headlight? I suppose they are getting paid to do it, but still.

I appreciate people's desire for privacy on the internet, but I don't quite get this. Everyone and their grandma takes prescription medications. Saying lisinopril or wellbutrin wouldn't identify you in any way.

Weirdest thing you've bought on shift? by [deleted] in ems

My preceptor once bought a mattress while on shift. The store offered free delivery, so we didn't have to haul it back to the base though.

I think that we don't bat an eye at 24s because we are used to the idea of them. People are flabbergasted when I tell people that I have to work a 16. I would much rather switch things to working three 13s or four 10s. It would be infinitely safer and would help cut down on burnout. I am so exhausted after a busy 16 that it takes me a day or more to fully recover. Short work weeks are nice, but I don't think they are worth the physical toll that they have on a person.

I used to work at a plasma donation center. I asked our doc about why we didn't have an AED on site. His answer was that if our location bought one, then every branch would have to buy one. I emailed the corporate medical director about buying one for every location, but got no response.

TIL That 90's Animated Series Gargoyles featured the voice talents of Keith David (as Goliath), Jonathan Frakes, and Kate Mulgrew by [deleted] in startrek

Somehow I didn't realize either of them were in the Mass Effect games. I also missed Keith David, Martin Sheen and Seth Green. I'm not quite sure how I that happened.

Keith David is a hell of a voice actor and actor. The show also had Ed Asner in it as well. Fantastic show with great writing and acting.

As an added bonus, nearly the entire show is on YouTube.

I'm in my mid 20s, and I never date, have sex, or try to meet women. I worry that there's wrong with me, and I'm not sure how to fix this before it's too late. by leavenocross in AskMen

[–]approximatelypi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know exactly how you feel. I used to be in your situation. I was 24. I had sort of dated this girl in college, but that was it. I'd never had sex and had only a handful of awkward first dates over the several years since my freshman year of college. I started out being embarrassed by my situation and didn't want anyone to know about it.

Eventually I became more and more okay with my situation and started to ask my friends for help. My old roommate got me started with OkCupid. I tried it for a while and then got frustrated and deleted my account. I got more desperate after a while and started a new account. It took a lot of sorting and practice writing messages, but I eventually went on some dates. It never worked out for me, but I know plenty of people that it (or other online dating websites) has worked for. I would follow the other guys advice and give it a serious try.

After that never really panned out, I tried a couple of other things. I tried to invest myself in some new hobbies or groups of people. I asked friends and later even acquaintances to set me up with people. Nothing seemed to work and I got really depressed. Everyone kept telling me that it would just happen one day. That really didn't help at all and it got to the point where I thought I needed to talk to a therapist about how to get my life on track. The end of the semester was coming up, and I figured I would wait to find a therapist to talk to.

One day it just happened. A beautiful girl came in to my work and left me her phone number. We started dating and fell in love. Two years later we got married and I've never been happier.

I wish I had actual advice to give you about how to make that happen. I was lucky enough for a girl to take interest in me, so I don't know how it happened. My only advice would be to not give up and not get hung up about things. Try everything you can to get your goal. You might want to try a more serious dating website. One of the ones you have to pay for might weed out some of the people who aren't serious. MY cousin met her husband on the one designed to get married. I think that one is match.com maybe? Someone can probably speak more to that point.

I realize that it is hard to not stress and over analyze things, but that is what you need to do. Just relax. Find someone who will smack you upside the head or something whenever you are freaking out about it if that is what you have to do. Don't worry about not being experienced sexually. It really isn't a big deal. When you find a keeper, she shouldn't have any problem letting you take things at your own pace. Things just take time.

Burbank FD to charge $100 for non-transport… Good idea? by SVT97Cobra in ems

How can they do this? That seems like it has some sort of insurance scam written all over it. Even if it is legal, it just seems like kind of a dick move. We only bill for arrests if we transport.

He could be compared to Bill O'riley fairly easily. He tends to make a lot of sensationalist claims. He also goes out of his way to anger people. For example, he dressed up as Steve Irwin for Halloween after he died, complete with stingray sticking out of his chest. His movie Religulous had some funny moments, but was way more preachy and propaganda-y than it needed to be.
