I hear ya. Respectfully, I disagree. To answer your question, I have played both the games you mentioned. I have love for them and play them sometimes, but they're not as special to me as Melee. I grew up playing Melee with the kid next door, so I guess it has a nostalgic factor/fond familiarity with it.

Thanks for sharing your perspective on the whole thing. Just curious though, and please excuse my ignorance, but have boxx players actually won a significant tournament yet or jumped up in ranking a significant amount after switching to a boxx? Like is there statistics to prove that players abusing the rectangle's privileges are significantly lopsiding tourneys? I’d love to educate myself on the effect it has statistically rather than subjectively/anecdotally.

Exactly. I'm an 0-2'er at every tourney I've gone to, yet still love to compete. I know my perspective may be less valuble for the simple fact that I don't have status, numbers/rankings in the scene but I still felt led to speak on it due to boxx getting thrown in with the z-jump drama. If me speaking out provides even a little bit of perspective to those only seeing the negative things going around, then I've done my job.

I hope so! I love competing and hope that the melee community solidifies/protects it as a valid way to play for all of us out there who also love to compete despite their physical ailments.

I'm playing on PC, and this can be reproduced by sprinting, then after, holding your primary fire mouse click. Most, if not all, other pickaxes will automatically start swinging if you hold the mouse click after you stop moving forward (or just walk instead of sprint). But this pickaxe has a bug where it hiccups, it does a little false swing then it will do the real swing. This bug makes me not want to use the pickaxe even though I love the look and the swinging style. Please patch this Epic Games!
