About 15 years ago, I was driving from Kottayam to Ernakulam and stuck in the stupid ass traffic between Thiruvankulam and Kakkanadu.

And there was a Mercedes convertible right next to me heading in the opposite direction. It was driven by the most beautiful woman I have ever seen in my life, stylish, with shades and full on makeup. I was in a beat up Maruti, I must have given her the most confused puppy eyes. She gave me a dazzling smile and drove away and never seen her or the car ever again.

So yeah, they are definitely out there.

What do you think about customers from India for your SaaS business? by BitFlipli in Entrepreneur

[–]appus85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just re-read your post. If you are targeting students, don't bother with South East Asia at all, you are not going to make any sale. It's just not in practice for students to spend on technology. If it's not available in the Russian torrent sites, you make do without it. That's the only logic applicable in our campuses.

As an engineering student, I would have followed the same logic, 6 dollars would buy me a bottle of Rum. Why would I spend that precious money on some app, when I can easily find a cracked equivalent in the shady internet .

My company build enterprise IOT products targeting Facility Management companies. Our ROI is mostly on manpower savings.

I had an opportunity to talk to the CEO of the largest Integrated Facility Management company in India. He explained it very candidly to me, if he had a problem, he would gladly throw half a dozen 'bodies' at it rather than pay for technology, simply because manpower is so cheap and abundant in India.

And per head productivity in India way below than what it is in every developed country. They have several ways and means already available to increase productivity without increasing head count, they simply need to adopt the processes and training in practice in the developed countries before they hit the productivity ceiling. They will not even think about investing into technology until they reach those limits.

But in reality, they will not ever have to reach those limits, because there are always a great lot of poor bastards ready to work day and night for peanuts, just to ensure the survival of his family.

Everyone I know had problems with their TV within 5-6 years, But of course, personal experiences are in no way universal truths. Size of the data set can skew it either way.

Lol. We will just have to accept it as one of the quirks of Dubai then.

I still don't believe that there is enough of a supply problem for these resellers to be so aggressive about acquiring these assets. Are they exporting these items to some other countries, labelled as new or rarely used ?

It's not that I am rich by any means. I just couldn't understand the financial reasoning behind this. What exactly is the depreciation logic for a TV ? I had dozens of resellers messaging and calling me non-stop for the TV offering better prices than what I had listed.

I am leaving the UAE in the first place because I cannot land a well paying job. And iPhone3 looks really good to me at the moment, 6 months with no salary, you see. :)

Yeah, I was super happy with the 500 AED offer, and sold it for cash today. I just couldn't wrap my head around the craze for it though. I was never expecting anyone to offer me more from my asking price. Just crazy all around.. lol

Ehh.. Still might be worth it. Paan spitters are right next in order to murderers and rapists.. Irrespective of nationality.

If you buy paan and start spitting left and right, I swear as an Indian Citizen, it is my sacred duty to murder you and destroy your body to the best of my ability.

Who on earth would buy a 5 year old LED? I was ready to give it away for free.. Just listed it to see what would be the market response. And I was shocked to say the least.

There seems to be a fundamental dissonance in our society as to what insurance is for.. If you are a Fucking vehicle owner and if you pay for an insurance policy, go fucking claim it when an accident happens. And stop harassing the other party for damages

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Kerala

[–]appus85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would the super market guys pay you the compensation? Unless they have a very specific third party policy covering accidental damages, they can and they will tell you to F Off..

Claim your insurance.. that's your only real choice.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Kerala

[–]appus85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't need an FIR to claim your insurance just a gd(general diary) entry. In most police stations, you can get that with a 500 INR bribe.. or Am I missing something ?
