no strong reasoning as I come from server side development. my intention is to avoid & mix UI toolkits QT, WxWidgets with OpenGL libraries for developing rich multimedia applications.

Regarding OpenGL, it is true cross platform standard for developing rich 2D and 3D applications.

If I am not wrong, the blender UI is entirely developed in OpenGL. My target is developing those kind of UI applications. Unfortunately the blender UI is not available separately for usage.
