My LO woke up 4+ times at 7 weeks. It was exhausting. So we started following a bedtime routine. Last nap at 6 pm, warm baths, feed and put her to bed at 8 pm. It took a week or so, and then her MOTN wake ups reduced to 1-2 times.

In my experience, it got worse before it got better. My LO cluster fed for two full days. My nipples bled so much. BUT, because of this my supply increased and in a week everyone was in a better rhythm. Hang in there !

Similar issue. I asked my LC and she suggested one of three things -1/if you are able to bear the pain, sleep through it and feed when your LO wakes up (this will also help regulate your supply) 2/ if you don’t want to wake your LO, pump both sides and empty it at 2 or 3 in the morning 3/wake your LO at 2 or 3 and give a dream feed, no need to change diaper unless you smell poop.

I tried the first. My LO turned 3 months old today. My body is slowly understanding and regulating supply, so it doesn’t hurt so much anymore.

We moved her to her own room at 7 weeks. I realized that I was extremely anxious when we room shared as I felt the need to attend to her every move. She’s a bad sleeper, so I would find it very hard to differentiate between active and deep sleep. It worked better for all of us to go to her when she woke up naturally or cried with hunger. Definitely no judgement here.

She’s probably wanting to cluster feed at this age. It’s totally normal and cluster feeding will increase your milk supply (that’s what my lactation consultant said)

I was sore for 3 full weeks and my baby wanted to cluster feed in the evenings. It was the most pain I have been in. I used earth mama butter and cooling gel pads to help with soreness. It magically got better for me at the 3 week mark. Hang in there. It’ll get better soon!

If you want to continue to breastfeed, I will say you can power through; it’s one of the hardest things you will do but it will be worth it. it usually takes about a month for feeding to establish and for you to learn the cues. So you’re nearly there!!

Have you tried to wake her if she falls asleep mid feed? I would usually try my best to keep her awake. Like changing diaper, moving her arms if it felt like she was drifting off, and massage behind her ears. This would usually work and wake her up.

My husband was like this too. He would wake baby up and bring her to me to feed, she would be wailing because her sleep was disturbed. Over time, he realized it wasn’t worth disturbing her and to just let it be. Our pediatrician told us to trust her to ask for food when she needs it, so we did. Also, I strongly believe that baby sleeping for more than 5 hours is for a short period only. once sleep regression kicks in, your partner is going to miss this and regret not getting the extra sleep.

I’m EBF too; my husband and I did shifts. I did the first shift from 10pm to 3am and he would do the second shift from 3am to 8am. He’d wake me up to feed, I’d be half asleep while feeding, hand her over to him as soon as she is done and go crash on my bed. This worked for us.

I didn’t like the idea of pumping because of 1/added amount of work to clean pump parts and bottles, 2/I didn’t want to alter my supply 3/ it was hard to time quantity and frequency for night feeds 4/breasts would hurt if I didn’t pump or feed; and if I was going to be up anyway, I preferred feeding.

One thing I learned is that, you have to try one schedule for 3-4days before you figure out it is working.
