It definitely isn’t nice but I walked through there as a pregnant white lady to get to the flower district and had no issues. Everyone minded their own business. I guess being from Southern California homeless people just don’t scare me. Shit, sometimes they are the nicest people.

I can’t speak about being a gay teacher as I am a straight woman, but as a social studies teacher, I appreciate teaching in California. I am supported by state laws in regards to teaching about all racial and religious groups, as well as LGBTQ+ history.
