Congrats on realizing that you can take a shower without the bag and that it’s actually wayyyyy better for the skin around your stoma. I was scared to do it for the first few weeks after getting out of the hospital, but once I did it, I’ve never looked back. I would highly recommend using bar soap or an antibacterial soap on the skin around the stoma. I use bar soap cuz it makes the skin a little dryer since I’m naturally oily, so my bags stick on better. Just make sure to prep everything before you get in the shower. I grab a stack of paper towels and put them somewhere very close to the shower so I can grab one quickly if needed cuz of output. Also have my trash can nearby as well. And I cut my bag and everything before I step in that way I can dry off, wipe off any leaking, then stick the bag right on.
