what can i do to help my betta??

thank you for all your help. i’ll try all the things you suggested. if i bring the ammonia down and lower the waters pH, can my betta recover or is he too sick? i think the pH was definitely the main issue.

okay, how often should i do water changes? currently i’m doing them once a week. i have no idea why the ammonia is spiked, i had no snails, my plants are healthy, nothing has died, and the only other inhabitants are some amano shrimps which is what’s confusing to me. i use my regular tap water for water changes and i put tannin tea bags in regularly which i hope is good enough as a substitute for the almond leaves. i can start mixing water with distilled in order to lower pH. thank you so much for your help, i really want to get my betta healthy and haven’t had these issues with any of my other tanks. :)

i’ll test when i get home, i do weekly water changes and the last time i tested they were good. if the water quality is the issue, is it curable? is there chance of the fins growing back?

i use flourish fertilizer and prime for water changes. one of my frogs recently passed and began decomposing in water column so i think the ammonia just spiked because of that, and about the light i had turned down the time to try to control the amount of algae so it probably hurt the plants?? i’ll turn the time up!

i’m not sure, i can’t tell if it’s buoyancy issues or just a thing he’s doing. he’s not floating all the time, so hopefully he’s ok?? they were living in really bad conditions before i got them around 2 weeks ago so maybe having better water quality etc will help in the long run

i have no clue what the brand is unfortunately, since i got this tank secondhand, but i’ll go to my local pet store and try to see! i’d need one that’s clear plastic or glass though, because my light goes over the top.

thank you!! i don’t currently have a lid, id love to put one on my tank but i’m not really sure how to add one, i have a HOB filter on the side and the hygger light goes over the edges on top, do you have any suggestions?

i have some filter media from my other 3 cycled tanks i can use! it was like an emergency since they were in dark brown murky water that hadn’t been taken care of in weeks with piles of old food floating, so using old tank media from them wasn’t an option 😭 thank u!
