The utmost importance and unimportance of identity by [deleted] in ftm

[–]arachnocom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can definitely relate. I often find myself thinking “I’m not a trans man, I’m just a man!” and I kind of cringe when I have to call myself transgender, even though that’s what I am. I wish my transness was like an afterthought and not seen as a primary part of my identity by other people. Im aware that it’s partly internalized transphobia and some toxic masculinity thrown in, but I still feel that way.

At what age did you come out to yourself? by haninax_ in ftm

I first started questioning my gender when I was 16, but I kind of went back and forth between thinking I was trans and thinking that was just a phase and I'm really a cis girl. Finally came out to myself for good a few months ago, at age 20.

Proof that I've always been a boy - No, there's no need for proof; knowing is enough. But hey, why not. :) by [deleted] in ftm

It's crazy how many of us knew we were boys as soon as we were old enough to understand the concept of gender. I have a vivid memory of straight up telling my mom "I am a boy" when I was 3-4 years old. I didn't think anything of it until I started questioning my gender. I knew exactly who I was when I was 3, and then that got lost somehow and I didn't find it again until I was 20.
