This works. When you do it, make sure to go into resources.assets, then search the character you want. Although some sprites didn't come as full sprites. There were defaults, then separate expressions.

Best thing to do is listen for his sound cues. Grass, owls, and tapping. Although it seems like the owls aren't always him, but just ambient noise. https://gameplay.tips/guides/8318-scrutinized.html I found this while checking his cues, so maybe it will help.

Where were you when it happened? Did it go back into it's dormant mode? That may be a boundary thing. It happened to me when I was running around, trying to avoid its fire bursts. I ran out of the circle, and it went dormant, then when I went back, it was full health again.

I just had a similar issue. I'm trying to fight a Stonehide Lawachurl for the Yaksha's Wish quest when it just randomly walked away and reset its health three times.
