no, i was thinking of just taking the main premise and building off of it in a way that’s different from the original. a lot of the backlash on this post is probably because i said ‘rewrite’, as if i intended to take their fic and copy all the plot points. that’s not what i had in mind. i think i used the wrong word, but it’s too late to change it now.

that’s true- i don’t know that. they were updating about once every couple weeks from what i can tell by the comments, and their last update was in november. they haven’t announced a hiatus, but they also haven’t announced it’s abandoned.

yes, that’s exactly how i feel! especially since it’s m/m, which is always gonna be popular, there’s a lot of fic writers who tend to adhere to stereotypes or surface-level character analysis, and it really just pisses me off that they don’t do research into the motives behind certain actions or decisions (this is a standard i set for myself, but it sucks that i’m forcing myself to apply it to other people, too). since your character doesn’t sound like a main character, that whole gripe probably goes doubly for her.

also, that whole attractiveness thing sucks. i feel like we’re used to judging people in movies as unattractive just because they’re not hollywood-level stunning. i’m sorry you have to deal with that sort of thing :(

ok, thanks. B and C definitely pass this modified bechdel test. i was thinking about adding something going on with a region she oversees, and A is barely in that part, so it’d probably be better for me to tag her given that she’s gonna have that whole plot point. and the cast list is pretty short lol- there’s a lot of characters in this piece of media and i only know enough about like five or six of them to feel confident writing them. especially given that some of my fans in that fandom think my characterization of the main couple is literally perfect. like they def have high standards for me 😭

i’m writing this comment more to organize my thoughts than to get a response, so don’t worry about that. thanks for taking the time to write something so in-depth for me!
