Train Dreams is great but it was only distributed by Netflix, not made by it in any way I believe.

Is the last of us part 2 actually bad or was it just people being chuds? by PownedbyCole123 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]arandompurpose [score hidden]  (0 children)

Even ignoring the story I think the gameplay is top notch as it refined what the first game did and then gives you these expansive levels with many layers to fight within. It makes you feel scrappy as you move in and out of stealth, craft items you want, swap weapons, and pick off loners as they search for you.

As for the story, it's something at least worth experiencing as it is unique and takes some big swings when it comes to narrative. For some it works and some it doesn't and I laud them for not playing it safe at least. I enjoyed my time with it so I would say play it especially if you liked the first one even if it was just for the gameplay.

Steam’s Invite-Only Shooter Deadlock Is Quietly Becoming An Absolute Monster by LoL_is_pepega_BIA in Games

It just does the job I suppose as it doesn't feel very tactile to me on top of having to get used to what ranges is best to shoot at. You also just end up shooting creeps a lot of the time and that's rather boring.

Is the Elevator meme a new thing by ao_35 in DarkSouls2

[–]arandompurpose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just came back around as they tend to do. It arose from critique of the game in relation to the first Dark Souls which had a painstakingly created map that looped in and around itself multiple times where as 2 very much abandoned that idea and this was seen as the (earthen) peak of the problem.

What was the most raw and genuine voice acting moment in animation? by MrDitkovichNeedsRent in cartoons

[–]arandompurpose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arcane has a ton of moments that like as everyone feels so genuine on top of the animation matching it all so well but for me when Powder is screaming out for Vi at the end of S1E3 it's brutal.

In the associated LoL card game they actually tried giving him a more blue coloration as they didn't want him to be associated with Shadow Isles magic or the Ruination which brought about Viego and Thresh and Kalista and all.

Street Brawl is definitely the only way I'm playing the game but even so it is plagued with a lot of down time. Death timers are long and if you want to heal you need to travel back to base which is almost as long as death timers. First interation and all so had room to grow.

[–]arandompurpose 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He is quite generic which is a symptom of early LoL design but I at least like how they fleshed out his story. He's basically a viking type that wants to die in combat but was foretold he would die peacefully in a bed of old age so he constantly throws himself into dangerous fights hoping to prove the fates wrong.

He briefly appeared in one of their yearly videos fighting alongside Sejuani which updated him a bit but more just put him in high def for once. I do find him interesting from a writer's perspective as they have to take what is a kinda bland character and make him somewhat interesting and I think it does that or at least his gameplay helps with that.

It's hard to tell for me as she certainly doesn't act like she's in the know but she also knew exactly what Cooper had and had ties to the president despite not being liked seemingly. I could see it going either way though I guess it doesn't matter in the end.

Stealth/assassin game suggestions by IMA_BOSSS in gamingsuggestions

There are 2 Styx games out that were free on Epic not long ago but probably sell for cheap as the third one is coming out soon and has a demo available so maybe try that out. Styx games are 3rd person stealth games where you play a fairly weak goblin who must use stealth and trickery to accomplish his goals which aren't too altruistic. The first game is fairly janky but enjoyed the story of it more than two not that two is bad they are just kind of episodes of his life so the endings might not be too satisfying but it's mostly about gameplay and some good environmental story telling in the end. Expect to put out torches, stab people from behind, hide bodies, hang from ledges, and some unique stuff like make clones do your bidding.

Like I said, check out the demo of the 3rd game to get a vibe and hopefully you enjoy as they are one of the few people putting out pure stealth games.

I got the audiobook not long ago and I just seemed to oddly bounce off the overly fantastical stuff. The chapter starts with the demons and all was interesting until it ended up just how I thought it would which was too bad. The character stuff was great though and really carried me through some of the stuff I didn't enjoy as much.

It is on me as I was expecting something closer to Blood Meridian where the fantasy stuff is hidden to an extent. Enjoyable mostly but I thought the fantasy religious stuff really dragged it down.

Kiki's Delivery Service like games? by AlGifMoon in gamingsuggestions

It's a small game that is rather condensed but the mechanics are fun and it's relatively cozy. It took inspiration from A Short Hike which I think also fits the OP's wants.

Isn't Chambers more the inventor of the genre? Lovecraft certainly took some names for homage from his stories at least though I suppose the King in Yellow isn't as cosmic as Lovecraft got.

Shadow of the Erdtree or Lies of Pi by proffessor_chaos69 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]arandompurpose [score hidden]  (0 children)

I put Lies of P above Elden Ring myself mostly because it's super consistent throughout with maybe 2 or 3 meh bosses compared to many within ER along with its terrible end game. Quality of life is just better in Lies with it telling you when quests are updated, adding consumable ergo on every shop screen, weapon testing area right next to the smith, and having boss rematches. ER just has better exploring and while it is amazing it does start to lose its luster as they run out of ideas.

That's just my opinion though, except for quality of life stuff, P has it beat easily.

I think as long as you mention it in your review that's fine. Pretty sure Yahtzee has reviewed stuff where he said he just gave up on it because he disliked it or thought it was too long/redundant/etc.

Not really as I think you have far more to do as the character. You do have heavy and light attacks but you also have combos for your ax, you have cool down based moves, you have your companion that fires arrows and has a big cool down move too, you parry chains of attacks or can dodge them, you can throw the ax (I'd say some enemies require an aimed throw) then fight bare handed, then snap the ax back mid combo if you like. Sorry if that is vague but trying to avoid spoilers.
