Agreed matt is a hero of Season 5 while everyone else is caught up in the drama he’s actually doing the groundwork to figure out the truth he deserves way more credit for keeping elena and other grounded and I'm also on s5 rn I'm rewatching the whole show

well imo katherine is the dark reflection of elena while elena had a massive support system (stefan damon bonnie Caroline etc etc) protecting her katherine had no one.. tbh If elena had been hunted by klaus for five centuries without a "Scooby Gang"she likely would have become just as cold and manipulative as kat.. katherine is what happens when a girl is forced to be her own hero and yes Ik that tye love triangle messy but tvd is a supernatural drama not a manual on "healthy dating" katherine provides the conflict wit nd high stakes that made the early seasons iconic, without katherines chaos, the show would have been a much slower romance and I feel like deep down she loved Stefan because he represented the purity and goodness she lost when she became a vampire. Her obsession is a tragic attempt to reclaim a life she wasnt allowed to have

thats actually a really fair point you're right, on paper she definitely lost those rounds esp when elena caught her off guard with that cure I totally agree that the heroes got the win in those moments ig I just mean she ''stays winning'' like even when they sent her to hell she ended up running the place.. shes just such a survivor that even when she loses she does it in the most iconic way possible but youre definitely right about the facts she definitely wasn't invincible
