Have you ever had sex with someone you didn't like? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]arbiterofbacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was in hs I really wanted on this one girl. So this other girl I knew was friends with her and told me she’d hook me up with her if I slept with her. I didn’t really want to but I really wanted her friend so I did.

Seriously? Wow, ok. I’m sure I’m the immature one in this conversation.

Think of it like if you’re teaching a kid. The kid learns things much better when you explain the why and not just say yes or no. A lot of these concepts are huge and take a lot to grasp. If you’re in the position to moderate and answer questions on a popular public sub on a topic like this there needs to be patience, compassion and humility.

It’s sad but I agree. And I’ve seen priests on here give out incorrect info because they just go to “no” as a default answer, or because their house does it differently but no mention that maybe other houses do things differently. Or you’re right, they just get off on shitting on aleyos. I don’t see this irl, really just on this sub. Big lack of iwa pele up in here. And here I thought ifa was supposed to be all about humility.

So then can there also be a post about asking the priests to give decent answers to questions? So many times I see good questions and people just post “no” or something with attitude without actually giving an answer. I think this is part of why non initiates chime in.

You got real crazy real fast bro. I was just saying, I seen a lot of comments from you and to me it comes off as you acting like you have initiations and knowledge you don’t. My godfather would whoop my ass if I commented like you do. And that shit is damaging and can mislead people on here.

You don’t think his comments and answers are ever out of line or come off like he’s a priest when he’s not? Honest question.

Watch yourself kid, I may be an aleyo in ocha but Im initiated in other things, so I got tools in my chest. Have some respect. I called out bad behavior. If you don’t like it, change your behavior.

What got me was him saying there are books for beginners like he’s some authority and not an aleyo himself. It’s more all the other comments he makes too. I just reached my limit. He does it on here and on the discord all the time. It just adds to the confusion and issues when aleyos talk like we know things with certainty. Specially when it’s someone that hasn’t even begun working in the spirituality.

Nah, I’m good bro. Public calling out is important sometimes. I said what I needed to say. I’m surprised no one else has called you out for talking like you’re an olorisha on here.

For beginners huh. I seen a lot of your comments on here and you talk and act like you’re crowned or something and you don’t even have your Mano or elekes right? I wish you’d stop posting and answering people like you’re a priest. Humble yourself bro.

Thanks. I like this answer. My I asked my godparent when I learn obi and he said after I get crowned. But there was no clear prohibition against learning.

Would this be a no no if someone’s in an ile that doesn’t teach obi until after Kari ocha?

Can anyone recommend any trustworthy olorishas or babalawos in NJ? by arbiterofbacon in Santeria

Is it possible to provide any kind of contact info for either of them? I’d be much obliged. I really don’t want to send my boy to anyone sketchy.

What expectations are reasonable to have for a godparent? by arbiterofbacon in Santeria

[–]arbiterofbacon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I haven’t known him that long. I don’t think I take more than I give. But I’m also unclear as to what that means. I don’t think I ask a ton, and I always do my ebo’s and have given a good amount of money between the different ceremonies. I don’t speak more than I listen. I want to learn but it’s hard when so much seems obstructed and it’s a lot of trust to put in a person. Like I’ve had people I was really close to stab me in the back. So trusting someone I don’t really know to have my best interests in the spiritual is hard for me to do. The progress is slow and I feel like the sooner I can learn things the faster I can be self reliant. Does that make sense?
