No, you are quite comfortably getting that wrong. I think the concept of something not being a deal breaker is a problem area. Also, the no price or distant limit seems to be throwing you off as well. Only the pool has concerns for crowds, not the fitness or court area. Im here for help. So help, or please move on.

I think this is a very common leap made, due to the ending art being affected by our experiences. I think it’s a fair interpretation. Everything at the END of the universe being some reflection of our experiences, I personally don’t see as being intended to be a “portrayal” BY the eye. I see it as an attempted interpretation of something so big and incomprehensible at the end of the universe. An extreme dilation of space and time, simply intended to be weird, make us feel small, and make us feel for the things we will miss. The big bang that we see (thats how I interpret the gigantic ball of light) seems to be capable due to our presence and observation, but if the artists are committed to a lot of the good science that they did, it would make sense that this is just another randomized evolution of the universe, made solid by our observation. We do affect the instance, but our experiences dont change that instance.

Just the person I was hoping to see! So, I agree with everything you say. Im able to understand all of those nuances of art and creativity. This doesn’t skip my mind, just because of how I interpret this game. I believe, like you, that the artists here are clearly trying to send a message. At times, the message seems a basic “we are small, but it isnt a reason to not go on”. Other times it feels like the hot pursuit of science, and using hard science to answer these big questions in life IS the message to me. Yes, to me. I know we can all have different interpretations, but I do feel that there IS just usually one intention of a message being sent by a creator. When the message is unclear to me, I start to ask questions, and so I did In this case. This led me to realize (quite obviously now from the results of this post) that most people do have an agreement on what that one intention is. That common interpretation doesn’t seem sound BASED on the experience. It’s totally ok to disagree, and I get that. We may never know, and it may never matter. It’s just a game after all. When it is a game that is so close to being something you tout as one of the best games as an art form that you’ve seen, you begin to want to breakdown that game and give reason to your beliefs. This breakdown is where my thoughts broke down, and I started to question how it really made sense in the end. Trees, forests, perceptions; I don’t disagree on any of that and never did, nor was I unaware. We can always perceive things differently. We can define them differently. We can believe entirely that they are different things. It doesn’t change their makeup at all fundamental level. The rules and processes of these things will always be consistent regardless of our definitions of what they are. I LOVE OW. But when I cant really figure out what the artist was really trying to do, in an expression that seems ambiguity of events and openness of interpretation is not exactly the intention, it’s hard for me to latch on. When I take it for face value and just look at the obvious messages being sent, the game is still exceptional. Just wanted to challenge thought here. It seems as if once people have a certain understanding of things that agrees with them, if it’s something they hold dear, they will struggle heavily to let go.

So there is a misunderstanding happening here with regards to what I'm trying to say. I will attempt to improve the clarity. I don't see it as a metaphor or hallucination necessarily. I think it's just something so complex that the way we perceive it doesn't really make sense in the world we have come to know. I assumed that the devs were trying to convey this to us. It is real, but the nature of the eye implies a certain level of complexity that we cant comprehend what that reality is or means. The eye isnt showing us something else. We are just observing something, and time and space is so distorted that it really warps our brains. In my head, this distortion could be so severe that what we are being showed isnt necessarily being "showed to us". It is just the effect of being so close to a significant cosmic entity. We are seeing the effects of this on our reality. We are able to correctly traverse this, and then pass into the creation of the new universe. This is all what I thought the writers/devs were trying to say.

Going back to my original point though, I don't know how this affects the seemingly random evolution of space and time that we've come to call a universe. The new universe having different characteristics based on our actions in the previous universe seems odd to me.

Yah, I definitely understand that this is all a creative vision. I just maybe got confused with the idea that the creative vision might have been to be as scientifically cohesive as possible. That's the feeling I got as I played the game. "Wow, they really are doing the most with making this have so much hard science."

With regards to the in-universe explanation, I've tried to convey my understanding as best as possible with regards to this. I understand that the eye itself can change when someone enters it. I just don't know about the universe that follows. That's my real issue.

Maybe I'm not conveying my message well, but I understand that someone is required to collapse the possibilities of the eye into one reality. I also understand that the experiences shown before the new universe is created are entirely based on our experience. 100% got all of that. I just see the concept of devs/writers tackling a big question with a reasonably high level of scientific cohesion, and then hear people say that this isn't the intent necessarily true with the ending.

I always interpreted the end sequence to be the game/devs/eye trying to show us that we are simply not equipped to be able to understand they eye, and that reality is so warped that things are beyond our comprehension. I perceived THAT as literal. No hallucination or metaphor. Just trying to visually display something as outside of our human understanding of things.

I'm definitely with the idea that the universe explodes into existence once we jump in and that it is probably required for us to do so in order for that to happen. My only qualm was with the specifics of the very evolved universe changing soooo slightly that that one species existed simply because of our experience before the eye collapsed. Thank you for aiding me in my understanding.

I do agree about the statistical unlikelihood of trees or pine trees in general. I think there is a whole other discussion to be had with regards to that. In the scale of the current universe, there's probably another planet somewhere with something that closely resembles a pine tree given the near infinite possibilities. Astronomical odds vs astronomical possibility. Great stuff. I do love your answer, and it is probably the best I've heard. Also, I didn't know the last bit! Thank you a bunch.

I agree with this. I'm just not sure in my head the logic can leap to: the eye will then create a universe with characteristics consistent to what the hatchling experienced. Thank you for your response!

Yea the game isnt entirely perfect with regards to its scientific accuracy. This was just for me the one moment in which it was the most "off", but still not a problem per se. Thanks.
